The matter of a good trans jacks is another thing. All $200-300 versions have lots of negative reviews of weak construction, hard to control hydraulics, stability issues and insufficient lift range. So here is my custom homemade version, very strong bolted onto a 4 ton jack that can be controlled with precision. I drove the 350 up on ramps, but still will have a tight situation getting the trans out. Looks like I even have to install the old 2 1/2 deep pan to install the new trans. The deep pan for the new trans is over 4 inches.

Be sure and check the flex plate for cracks. Better to find them now than after you already have the new tranny in place!

Yes Sir, I remembered you telling me that. I checked it and it looks good. Talking about Flex plate, one of the bolts scared the daylight out of me, it didn't want to budge. After breaking a 15 mm craftsman 6point socket, I used 6 point impact socket with a 2' foot extension and had to lean into to hard to crack it. 12 point would have killed that nut

6 point sockets are definitely the way to go. Unfortunately I mostly have 12 point. One of these days I'll have to remedy that situation!
When are you lifting the new transmission into place?

You will probably have to do some clearance work on the transmission cross member to clear the bigger trans pan. Had to take about a 3/8" off mine for the mag-hytec pan. Looking at your pan, will probably be more than that.

trans cross member is out, so i may just do it while is easy. The old pan was just in front of the cross member, will have to take some measurements. When I installed a Derale deep pan on a TH-400, I had to modify the crossmember. Exhaust crossover is out, had to wiggle the old trans out because of exhaust pipe side clearance. Just didn't want to pull the headers. Will see today if I can get the new one in. Best thing I did was spending time on building the floor jack adapter, its super strong and extremely responsive.

the new trans is in, was able to slip the widest housing section over the exhaust coming from the rear. Chris you were right, I had to notch the crossmember for the new pan. checked flex plate to converter clearance and will be ready to torque the new converter bolts. A few hours of odds and ends and she will be ready to be filled .

All done, filled and no leaks, shifts and not throwing any codes. Test drive in the morning. Pretty big job for an old guy with shi tty tools

Test drive went well,smooth shifting up and down. As a bonus I do have a parking Pawl now, which makes me extremely happy. I do understand the weight limitation and dangers associated with that, but more than willing to deal with it.

Besides being very pleased with the new trans, I do have a problem with the builder not following my precise instruction for the rear output shaft. I did sent them the picture below and told them that it was extremely important to have the same shaft measurement.
When I picked up the trans in Phoenix a few weeks ago, I did notice that the length was just a tad over 6 1/8. I wasn't please but thought with the slip joint on the driveshaft it should be ok, which it turned out to be.
The parking brake was a different issue, since that amount of set back preloaded the shoes to the point of dragging the new shoes to almost lock up and not enough play to engage the parking brake. I ended up drilling a new cable mounting hole to get the right length back.

Peter I admire and congratulate your tenacity and endurance, job well done.
If I was doing a job like that and sat down to report on mid job progress, there is no way my old body would return to the job that day or maybe even for a couple of days. I may have to return some of those special rivets you gave me, if I can figure out how.
