Looking good Peter. Did you put on the extra insulators on the compressor? Or were you able to use the old isolators from the old compressor?

If you mean the rubber feet, yes I used the old ones after i made a mounting plate. The little rubber grommets that came with the compressor just seemed too wimpy for a Metal install. They maybe ok on a wooden floor. I can't hardly hear it when inside the coach.
You can see the mounting plate elevated in my picture.

Got it, thanks. Hopefully I won't have to worry about replacing my compressor in the near future

To complete my cold start issue, I ordered a ACDelco reman distributor, which was very expensive. Fired up once and then no go. Appears the Ignition Control unit fails when it gets hot. Installed the one from my old distributor and all is well.
What the heck

I had a similar problem with a new cheap chinese import distributor. for my engine The mechanical parts of the distributor were just fine. The ignition module however was bad from the beginning. Any time the engine was around 2000 rpm it faltered until you got above 2200 rpm. A new quality ignition module solved the problem.

The ACD distributor came with a used GM Igniton Module that was not even properly coated with dielectric grease. It properly tested good cold, but as soon as it gets hot it fails.
I could have started another thread "hard start from Hot"
That just pisses me off, pay good money for crap. Bought it through amazon and could return the entire distributor, but no guarantees I would get a better one.
How in the world do they keep all these cars with all the electronics on the road?

All these new cars you're referring to are just disposable appliances. I doubt seriously you'll find anyone that would want to restore one 20/30 years from now.
I don't really bother working on my "modern" daily drivers, it's just not worth the hassle.

Same with a summit distributor on the 310 Brad. Electronics fine, but the timing weights system trashed after about 6 years!
Sorry to hear that Peter, amazing that workmanship is not like it should be at times! That is why when the bushings were good on mine, rebuilt it myself!
After over 4000 miles, I must have got something right

I build ultra high reliability electronics for a living.
Depending on price point, electronics can be built to either outlast anybody alive... Or they can be built such that the average failure age is far enough out that *most* make it at least past the warranty date.
Automotive industry, while not as bad as consumer electronics, is still more the latter.
Anywho, sorry bout the luck, frustrating. Normally OE is the way to go.

Sounds good John, I take all you can load up and deliver. I even go to the parts store with you and spent all your money to help you repair all the damage the transport will do!
Any word on the border situation?
