Man that bites, curious to see how you pull it off

No wiggle room to go straight down?

I'm planning to vent through the wheel well

Did you find a brushed aluminum vent cover, or does it come out in the paint?

Finally finished the plumbing and roughing in the dryer vent.....what a pain in the ass.....tomorrow I will charge the water system and check for leaks before I put the closet back together. I nailed the vent install on the first try, that almost never happens, I will bridge the support spar from the inside, although I don’t think it’s necessary it will make me feel better. Going for the new transmission install on Saturday.....hope I don’t have to take a saw to the floor ! Regards, BobClick image for larger version

Yeah? You should have witnessed my pucker factor cutting a 14x14" hole in the back bedroom ceiling for my second Maxxair fan install; KNOWING full well that a lot of wiring was just under the surface, attached to the outer skin.

John was a big help; just handed me the Fein saw and said, "here you go, you do it."

Nice work so far Bob.

I hope you at least got to spend sometime relaxing over Xmas.

Cheers
Sidekick Tony

Well.....the transmission is in ! It’s huge....clears the rear floor support by 1/2” and sits 2 1/2” lower, which means new rear transmission mounts to fabricate, and the carrier bearings will have to be lowered as well....,really tough install. Got the fuel tank all cleaned up and the fuel lines all mapped out. Click image for larger version

If you decide to stay gas, I might have a home for a diesel generator.

The washer/dryer is complete....total install about 40 hours.....driveshaft will be made tomorrow. Good thing I removed the fuel tank.....all the rubber lines were toast.....a true dry rot scenario. A lot of labor involved in the washer/dryer install, I guess anything custom is not as straightforward as you would think. I am real happy with the install and the flow rate if the discharge is excellent. I put both the hot and cold water hoses down the drain and turned them on for 5 minutes and no overflowing at all, I can hardly wait to try the first load of wash. Driveshaft is all done, new rear transmission crossmember in 2 weeks. Got all the new steel fuel line today along with a new in line fuel filter set-up and fuel pump. Going to order the new fuel gauge sending unit tomorrow. Will start in the install of the auxiliary trans and engine oil coolers this weekend. I have also decided to remove all of the emission control devices (air pumps, exhaust tubing, check valves, etc) I will keep them all for the next owner should they want them.....Click image for larger version

Bob, the tray that those emission canisters sat makes a alt place for chassie battery which then allows room for more house battery

While having the fuel tank down I’m going to replace the wiring going to the rear lights/trailer connector. It’s easy to understand why you can’t follow colored wires on an Airstream.....,the colors appear to change every few feet, also a great time to replace the crappy butt connectors they use in manufacturing.....Click image for larger version

Trial fit the driveshaft.......needs one more cut, final welding and balancing tomorrow. I’m going to send the Holley carburetor down to my buddy on Long Island to rebuild, no real problem, but a good time to do it. He did the Rochester on the 325LE, a few years ago as well. All the goods from Summit came in....new 17” aux electric cooling fan, new aux trans cooler, new aux engine oil cooler. I finished the wiring on the new fan controller, it features a radiator probe with adjustable on/off set points and an over ride for the AC. Will start on the new fuel lines next week and clean up the wiring. Waiting for the new fuel sending unit to arrive then I can re-install the tank. I ordered a new Carter fuel pump as well and will keep the original as a spare.

I’ve removed about 95 percent of the vacuum lines, thermal vacuum switches, and emission controls....will rework the vacuum for the vacuum advance on the distributor next week, other than the EGR valve and the climate controls I should be able to do away with the rest of the vacuum lines, Regards, BobClick image for larger version
