Haha - not sure what that blob is... a fuse link? I didn't put it there that's for sure. The motor and mechanism are fine, so I'm going to put an up/down switch in. The wall switch and remote are on the sidelines.

Hard to tell from the picture, my first assumption was it looked like a manufacturing defect

Were going to put the 370LE through the Balls of Fire test over the next couple of days. With the temperatures expected to be 95 degrees or better we will be leaving Kentucky tomorrow and heading for Virginia Highland Haven Airstream park. Saturday morning we will be leaving Virginia and heading to the Lancaster area of Pennsylvania. Ill be doing final checks today on all tires/fluids/generator systems. Regards, Bob

Has been a great week so far for not only relaxing, but checking out all systems during dry camping. Thanks to Tony for the fresh water idea....we have been averaging 1 gallon day/use, 3 pots coffee for me. We just finished our first 5 gallon jug and will install the second later this morning. Thanks to Lance for the refrigerator baffle design from Dometic, with the addition of the 2, 4 fans in the roof vent the ice cream is still rock hard in 90 degree temperatures. Generator use is limited to 2 hours per day here in the Daniel Boone national forest and that is enough to charge the 3 group 31 deep cycle batteries for the coach. The inverter works great for making the coffee at 6 AM and keeping the cell phones/I pads charged up. It even runs the toaster for the bagels ! Running the ceiling fans at night does not appear to help much with the warm temperatures outside. Ive gotten up around 4 AM to catch a couple of hours of additional sleep outside. The fresh water spigot is about 80 feet away so refilling the fresh water tank in the morning has not been a problem. The cell range extender has been working perfectly as streaming the Amazon Prime TV has been excellent ! With the exception of the battery switch inside the entry door all systems have been working as I hoped they would. Regards, Bob

Bob, are you using the same cell booster that Verizon recommended a while back or did you switch to something else?

I was not able to get a site on the Runway the last time I was at Virginia Highland Haven, however I just checked with Reserve America, joined up, and received site 23 for Friday night ! I remember the view from the runway was absolutely spectacular ! Were really looking forward to staying there Friday night. Regards, BobClick image for larger version

Tony, you were so right when you said that the difference between Airstream motor home folks and Airstream trailer people was like power boaters to sail boaters.....well, my latest analogy would be more like Republicans (us) to Democrats (them) I am currently wearing my TRUMP 2020 hat here just to see how many people I can piss off. We arrived here yesterday afternoon to be greeted by the most RUDE host I have ever encountered (Virginia)....she wanted to know what I was driving and had I entered in all the correct information about my 370LE on the reserve america reservation. After offering a copy of the confirmed reservation she reluctantly gave me the (coveted) site that I was hoping to get.....pictures for proof. Although this park has the best view I have ever seen, I am surprised that they still have an antiquated 30 amp service structure. Even most of the new trailers come with twin AC units and with all of the other modern electronic features you would think that Virginia Highland Haven would have upgraded by now. In any event, the trip yesterday was flawless, we traveled in 84 heat most of the day. The dashboard AC was awesome, even better than last year. Now for the cooling system.....The only changes I made was to remove and relocate the transmission oil cooler and the engine oil cooler, With the removal of the 2, 10" fans being replaced by 1, 17" fan. Traveling through the hill of Kentucky and West Virginia the temperature of the coolant never got above 200 degrees....that was definitely not the case last year where I experienced multiple overheats in slow traffic on I 80. Regardless.....something you guys ought to think about. Regards, Bob

Jerry, is that the control board from the AliExpress lift? I ordered one and could never get it to work. Happy to drop it off at the shop if the control board gets your lift working again.

Thanks Kyle, yes that's the control board from the AE lift. I can't get anyone at the "Ali store" where I got it to email me back. Not surprised. The boys aren't sure what happened so we put in an up down switch. The only thing that isn't working is the remote. Since Josh has taken mine completely apart, maybe he can get yours working.

I will drop it off at the shop this week. Think we are going to go with a pneumatic table lift

A great ride yesterday in the 97 degree blazing heat from Virginia Highland Haven to Lake in Wood campground near Lancaster, PA. Interstate 81 most of the way north, heavy traffic, nice smooth highway, speeds 70-75 MPH. It sure is nice to be able to stay with traffic, Im real happy with the new 4 speed overdrive transmission, Im going to talk with the transmission control people about installing a paddle shifter to downshift the transmission on the long windy mountain descents. The wiring is already installed for that. I also had the transmission built for that purpose. As I complete my projects on the 370LE it gets better and better. The upgrades to the instrumentation will be nice as well.....its difficult to see engine temperature as well as all the other 2 gauges along the top row. The 2 speed rear should also get me down to the 2400 RPM mark where I would like to be. The engine rebuild will also increase my compression and eliminate the valve float which I am experiencing now in the 2900-3200 RPM range. Should be a high of 95 degrees for todays ride home. A really great ride up I 81 yesterday in the 95 degree heat. I developed a crack in the Onan 6500 exhaust manifold during the ride north yesterday. Ill pull the generator out on Sunday and see if I can repair it by TIG welding it. The left side engine pipe flange to exhaust manifold cane lose in Kentucky and I needed a semi-deep 11/16 socket to tighten it up which I did not have with me. Since the generator and left side engine exhaust pipes are connected together the additional stress caused the problem. Im going to isolate the exhaust pipes so that will not happen again. Again with the steep inclines that seem to last forever on I 76 up to the tunnel I held the throttle between 2900-3200 RPM. 65 to 70 MPH up the grades with temps never going above 200 degrees.......absolutely amazing. The auxiliary 17 (P51) fan crapped out on the way home......it seemed like it always spun slow since new and it blew a couple of 30 Amp fuses.....I should have known something was wrong. In any event, thanks to guys at Summit Racing, a new one is already on the way, warranty, great service ! Before the trip I was able to acquire a set of matched belts, with 2 spares for the water pump/power steering pump which I changed, Im sure that also contributed to the success of the great cooling. I am going to do an experiment in the generator and replace the 20 amp circuit breaker on the generator and replace it with a 30, if I can find one. I am hoping to be able to run the rear AC with the battery converter at the same time. If my math is right I should be drawing 24-26 amps at compressor kick in.....well see ! Regards, Bob

I found all of the original Onan manuals in the 325LE. It has the same generator as the 370LE, so I have the installation manual...LMAO, operation manual, and the most coveted parts manual with all the correct part numbers, I already scored a 30 AMP NIB circuit breaker for 23.00 bucks on Amazon. If anyone needs part numbers for an Onan 6500 Emerald III type NHEF let me know, Regards, Bob
