Really started cranking out today on the work....got the new washer/dryer into the bedroom.....if anyone wants to know the secret PM me and Ill explain. From the pictures you will be able to see the the plumbing and electric are already where I need them....got most of the hard work done. My wood guy will be making the platform to hold the washer dryer at the wheel well height, he is also going to make a new drawer which will be located from the wheel well down. Tranny should be here Tuesday so next weekend well pull the tranny and fuel tank and move forward with this project ! Regards, BobClick image for larger version

I want to thank my friends at Visa credit card services, not Pay-Pal for resolving my dispute with the people that sell RV parts from their parents living room while theyre sitting in their underwear (RV parts country of Kentucky). I ordered a hot water heater for John (Shephard57). The incorrect one showed up......this is why you print all your E-Mails for an order. Bottom line the charge is removed and I have a free hot water heater (XT) model 6 gallon without the motor aid sitting on my loading dock ! My transmission is in so going to pick it up. Regards,Bob

All you need now is a Telma brake on the back of that tranny.

Great progress Bob.

Cheers

I got a lot done today....we removed the original C6 transmission and rear cross member....will start cleaning the parts, and fabricating the new parts during the week. It appears that the driveshaft will have to be shortened about 8 1/2 as well as moving the rear crossmember back about 6 1/2. The new custom transmission is housed in a E4OD case, all of the parts are from a 4R100 with the exception of multiple clutch pack additions and the billet parts which are the torque converter, input and output shafts and the drum assembly. The unit is much larger than the original and I may have to do some fabrication to the floor but Im hoping not to. It took longer to remove the 80 gallon fuel tank than it took to remove the transmission. The fuel tank is wedged into the frame with almost 0 clearance on the sides. I will start to fabricate all new steel fuel lines as well as install the new fuel sending unit. Tomorrow I plan on finishing up the base in the rear closet which will hold up the new washer/dryer......Regards, Bob

I took a break today from the heavy work and finished roughing in the washer/dryer installation. I still have the plumbing to hook up but everything is behind the false wall to the left of the washer/dryer. The shower is behind that wall as well so the hot and cold water are already there and I will drain the washer/dryer into the shower through a polished brass spout. I have to drill a 3 1/2 hole through to the exterior for a dryer vent so I need to make a very accurate measurement in the closet. I built the base to handle the load of the washer/dryer 125 lbs. plus 15 gals. Of water plus the incredible speed of the spin cycle. I have the same unit in the 396XL and let me tell you......if its not fastened down it will spin right out of the motor home ! On the transmission side of things I have decided to remove the grill (AGAIN). Although I replaced the radiator 2 years ago, between the AC condenser, engine oil cooler, transmission cooler, and 2 electric fans in front of the radiator, it still runs hot in the summer.....go figure....the new auxiliary tranny cooler will be mounted horizontally underneath with a thermostatically controller fan just forward of the entrance steps. Im not sure yet on the location for the aux. engine cooler yet, but somewhere on the left side with a fan as well. The 370LE radiator has a different profile than any of the other motor homes......its much wider than the others and not as tall. Pictures later, Regards, Bob

I finished pulling off the grill, fans, tranny cooler, and engine oil cooler, my radiator core measures 24 wide x 18 high. Im going to toss the 2 12 fans and go with a single 18 fan. Pictures of the works for today....Click image for larger version

I removed all of the transmission cooling lines and will replace them with the coated steel lines after I put the new transmission back in with the under body auxiliary tranny cooler. Regards, BobClick image for larger version

I was up in the Boston area yesterday.....a big shout out to Charly for hooking me up with his steel guy (Kevin) to fabricate the new polished stainless steel bumper for my work truck. I took advantage of the trip to measure a couple of items on his 370LE. Seeing that his transmission is still in and mine is out. This E4OD is HUGE some floor fabrication might be necessary.....Im hoping not, but its going to be close. Were going for the install the weekend after Christmas.....if I try it this weekend and it doesnt fit I know Ill be down in the shop for the 4 day weekend....so I think its best to wait. Moving forward on the auxiliary transmission and engine oil coolers and should have the washer dryer finalized this Sunday. Regards, Bob

Well the washer/dryer is still not finalized and I need to make another trip to Lowes......the plumbing job is like trying to pack 2 pounds of olives into a one pound bag along with trying to solve the Rubicks cube at the same time. Im going to probe the wall tonight in an effort to accommodate the dryer vent without getting electrocuted......transmission install should be happening in 2 weeks as well as the battery compartment redo. I need to start on the dashboard replacement by Feb. 1 if its going to happen. Big projects.........Regards, Bob
