First the house batteries not working? Found the breaker bad on the battery drawer! Bypassing for the trip and a new one on the way.
Then when we were leaving the COOP, low voltage on the dash gauge, then it went back up!? Back at the house took the dog house off, wiggle the wires to the alternator, voltage back up and you could hear it doing its job. Should have taken care of that when I installed the new alternator! Worked fine out to AZ and back!?

The secret to fixing stuff on these rigs is to know where to look and it seems you did exactly that.

Have been busy removing a couple of miles of coolant line, or so it seamed!

Used two 10' pieces of 1/2 copper pipe in place of that long run back to the hot water heater and axillary heater, that did not have a shut off valve!?
The axillary heater now has a valve so we can cut it off when we are trying to keep it cool in the coach!
Also with the H-pipe at the end of the run, I can dump some BTU's from the engine on them hot days. Know its probably not much, but anything helps!

Part of the project was to remove the hot water heater and replace with a on demand Girard.

Chris, nice clean work and its sick how clean your under body looks
Surprised to see rubber (even though its the super 14T2) coming and going to your fuel filter, mine is all hard line from tank to engine crossover rail.

Love the fuel preheat function at the filter

Thanks Peter, they had a section of metal pipe, and no extra filter going to the genset. It was almost pinched off on how it was wrapped around the frame and floor support.
Got to clean up the routing a bit and take care of that preheat filter

Pardon my ignorance: what is the purpose of the apparent short
circuit in the heater lines? I mean the tee joints that join the
two copper lines.

That is so the coolant will travel all the time through the line. They had one up front in that pile of hose you can see it. They say that it also allows better control of the heat when you have it on.

I reduced it to 3/8 for the bypass.

This is what it looks like now up by the engine.

. . .
Similar to when home builders put in a continuous hot water loop in the plumbing supply lines, so that there is hot water available all the time, in even the most remote bathrooms. This raises energy costs a bit, but saves lots of water use getting hot water to reach those far-away bathrooms.

Funny Chris, I was thinking about this thread, and our California Zephyr trip many decades ago, when I heard a great train song this afternoon. Will post it on the OTRA I music thread. [hot link in blue]

Talking about the California Zephyr, we went to Maricopa to see the rear car, this past winter, just to find this!

FWIW I have noticed some similar things. I think they are in the process, mostly hidden so far, of transitioning to a new Forum-hosting software package?

Chris, did you have to strip some clear coat first?

And how!

Back in 2006 when the PO had her painted and clear coated, AS cleared just about anything that was not painted! That included the wheels, SS lug caps and hub covers. Would not have been so bad, but when they did it, they sealed in what was not cleaned up!

I used Orange striper and took that off with gray scotch bright pads. They looked much better with all the clear off, even before they were polished!
It took longer to strip the wheels down, that it took to polish em.
Using the tag axle to mount the wheels on to polish works great. You can let them rotate with the buffing wheel and control the rotation with your feet.

For those that don't have a tag, you should be able to use the front axle the same way.
