Yes I have done the same with the 310. Much better, and some of of that has been done to the Zephyr, bell cranks, springs and steering stabilizer shock. I hope this will help. Hopefully it will help and will report back good results

Took the Zephyr for a drive today, although wind was only 5 to 10 mph, she performed great! The curves I would normally slow down because of the roll, were solid and was a nice feeling. I think that this is a very good improvement!

When you replaced the springs on your 310, did you go with a heavier spring and eliminate the air bags?

Yes I did Mike. They were the Super Steer SS260 springs, air bags gone.
New, ball joints, tie rod ends, bell crank arms, drag link from steering box, SS bell cranks, neoprene sway bar bushings, Bilstein shocks (4) and steering shock. Aligned per SS spec.

The Zephyr has the SS bell cranks and springs. Not sure what else was changed out when that was done, but looking at receipts that came with her, looks like most of the other components as well. But that was about 20 years ago!

Hadley air horn replacement

Have a question for everyone with the Hadley air horns.
I need to replace the two on the Zephyr due to the chrome has coming off!

What is involved to get these off, cut holes in the celling to access the mount is the only way I can see to do this!???

Any ideas, and how to proceed!?

I replaced my horns and did not need do anything inside.
Mine were held on with sheet metal screws. Not too bad
of a job. Use stainless hardware.

cmadmaxman, got a question. A friend of mine has a 1983 Classic 300 gas motor home. They are having the engine checked out here locally but have concerns with the interior overhead cabinets. I looked at them this morning and they appear fairly solid but a lot of cracks in the plastic framework. How do people address this issue, or, can they be repaired? Is any of the interior trim still available? Is there anyone in Texas that has refurbished the head-lockers? Unfortunately, Iím only familiar with pull behind Airstreams. Thanks

AirFly, I had replaced the ones on the 310, but they were electric.

Was yours electric or air?

Bubba, I reinforced all three overhead cabinets, and no, there is no parts available unless you can find someone that has striped one out for a remodel.

Let me try and find some photos of what I did to reinforce them.

I replaced my original electric horns with Wolo horns. I sealed

everything up with Sikaflex.

Thanks Airfly, these are true air horns, so the mounting is different because of the air line going into the rear base.

I removed mine. They weren’t working. I did it all from the outside.

Hey Bubba, here is some photos of the reinforcement that I did on the 310.

Over the lights, I gorilla glued plywood strips where the lights are mounted. On top of that I glued a aluminum angle over the gap of the two openings and bolted all that together. You could drill and bolt, but I drilled and taped. The aluminum support is just on the inside portion, just plywood on the outer, toward center of coach.

The plywood around the openings of the doors, was just about all coming off, basically unglued! Will a little work I got all of them off, then re-glued with the gorilla glue. You need to keep the cabinets jacked up in the center of the openings when re-gluing all part and supports. After I got the plywood glued back on, I used 2" or 1 1/2" x 1/8 aluminum plate 4 foot long. Rough up the glued side for good adhesion.

As you can see in the photos, you will need a lot of clamps!

Rubber bumper mounts

Have you ever wondered why the rubber distorts and rust is staining the lower part of the casting for the rubber bumpers?

Here is a little information on what I have done on both of our coaches.

On the 310 I used the same stainless steel plates, but just used 2 mounting bolts like OEM was. On the 350 I got to looking at it and made an improvement to 4 bolts. I TIG welded the studs on the plates and used SS lock nuts. All SS no more rusting steel!

Have been thinking of making a repair kit with all needed supplies for a DIY, if there is enough interest!

Your welcome Bubba. Glad to help.
The cracks are still there, but not gaping any more so, not so noticeable.
I did away with the pop rivets that hold in the light fixtures, they are now screwed up to the cabinet with LED strips installed!

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Nice work Chris! I would take you up on it, except some PO already solved the rust issue in a different way...
