Iridium Flares
gnorgan,
The telescopes sound good. Another fun sky even is to look for the flashes from the solar panels on the network of Iridium satellites. Frequently these can be seen shortly after sun set or shortly before dawn.
Schedule available at;
Welcome to Heavens-Above!
These are naked eye events. If you are located along the path of the reflection they can appear as bright as -7 or -8 magnitude.

Also, I just talked to another Airstream and telescope owner friend of mine who seemed genuinely interested in heading out to this rally. He has spent lots of time in and around the Sedona area so this would mean another telescope (8inch with GPS searching capabilities) to look through.
Our $$ is in the mail Saturday morning.....
Might decide to stay over Monday night, too.

I enjoy watching the International Space Station go over. It is very visable if you know where and when to look. When the Space Shuttle is attached to the station even easier to see. Go the the sighting website to see when it will be visable in your area.

Welcome to the forums and thanks for signing up for the rally. I have received your registration and you are all set. Let's see, Sedona to Cottonwood = 20 miles. I'll have to think about that one.....

Bring printouts for all those "fly-overs" and everything else. Galaxies, nebulas, etc. will be there, too.
Richard, how do I find out if my registration $$ made it or not?
Now, to find time to wash and wax the aluminum.....

We would vote for the flamingo prize...pink is good, and goes with...uhm...PINK...and...uhm...ALUMINUM!!! Flamingo options could be : number; use; placement... that we have a few is incidental. Can we vote more than once? We are looking forward to meeting this crew. We have an EU 2000 we could bring, if there is enough need...we also have an onboard 7.5 KW, so a plug-in could be done that way...just let us know...

Sounds like you are bringing the MH. I think enough people will have generators to go around, but if you have room, why not.
We still do not have a 4th prize catagory as of yet. The first 3 are - Longest travel to the forum (getting lost counts!)
- Oldest unit (I love vintage)
- Best of show (voted by the rally)
- ???????????
Suggestions for the 4th include - Best inovation in a trailer / MH
- Best use of flamingos
- Best dish at the pot luck (voted by rally)
The award will be presented at the pot luck dinner on Saturday evening. We will also be handing out a bunch of door prizes at the same time.
Some one asked about the trails at the park a while back. I found a new trail map at the parks web site and here is the link to it: http://www.pr.state.az.us/Parks/dhtrails/DHRTS_06.pdf

That's another one I would be in the running for if I removed my hat !
I do like the idea, but I would like to keep it something that everyone has a shot at winning. I have one catagory that can only be won by a vintage unit (oldest unit) and I am not 100% sure who that will be.
I will wait untill I get more suggestions before a decision is made.

Did just that. Thanks.
I've just got an idea for a game at camp. How about everyone bring a small spare part from their Airstream and put it in a non-see-thru bag. Hang that by your own rig. Everyone then tries to guess by feel what parts are in these bags, while making the rounds. At the end the correct answers are revealed, everyone tally up their scores and the trophy of the "manual bookworm" can be given, or some such?
It's ok to say that is a booger idea, I can take it, haha.

Okay Richard, Here you go with some options for number 4:
1. Most unique interior
2. Best Theme Trailer (Margaritaville, flamingos, the Jetsons, whatever)
3. Best Matched TV/Trailer combo
4. Greenest Trailer (eco friendly)
5. Coldest Beer.
I will help judge number 5 if you wish. (and the option for polishing my trailer is still open).

I have made a decision on the final category for the award. I have decided to let my wife award the prize. I will post the criteria after I inform her of her new role.

BTW, The prizes for the 4 catagories were donated by Andy of Inland RV and are very nice. The item that will be given to the big winner will be voted on by the folks at the rally. 1T1V = 1 Trailer (or Motorhome) 1 Vote.
I have also gotten some very generous donations from other folks and those will be given away at a drawing during the pot luck.
Randy (68 Overlander) donated 4 very nice item from his bestconverter business.
Rich at Airstream Life, Andy from this forum, and The VAP also made donations.
Members devoman, dmaiden and azflycaster (ME) have add to the pot as well.
A full list of the donations will be made after the rally. We do need to have a few surprises. Please support the business that support us!
If anyone else would like to to contribute, let me know.
BTW, Jan is not too keen on selecting a winner, I'll work on her.....
