Thanks for your comments, Mr. polar.... Maybe that's why they only charge $30. bucks per nite, (at Friendly RV)...no bank sevice charges.

My cousin Rich really did a nice job on the doors. I have been learning, "as I go", on the wood working. But, I am glad that I did take a wood working course in High School.

Hey Rex. I do some ww myself. The right tool for the right job goes a long way but then again you have to know how to use them. I have a good set of tools but work in a very confined garage and have to move things around. I have a cabinet maker friend in Kansas that is helping me build a grandfather clock. I'm going out there soon to do some more work on it. It's been a 2 yr. project so far. Coming along nicely too. Keep up the good work.

I know what you're saying, Mr. polar.... I was looking at the "right tools" yesterday at Home Depot and Lowes. But like you, I don't have the room in my garage, (6 bicycles & 1 harley). That is why most of my tools are on wheels. And I'm closing in on the cabinet/door making task, for Rita.

Do you fly out to work on your clock, or do you take your Airstream? What a great road trip that would be!

Thanks Kay... coming from you guys means a lot to The Bunny and I. Jack really does love his little nest. I do plan to install a door....someday. Hope your project is going well....

Today I finished the door project....sanded, stained, and installed! I love the self closing hinges...plus, installed magnetic door stops, and purchased a 10 pac of silver door knobs from Home Depot, that match the stainless steel oven.

Also fixed my broken ice chest by installing new hinges. Plus, I started on tomorrows project, by assembling two more sliding drawers inside the food pantry.

Thanks Ms. reiner.... It was really nice of my cousin Rich to help me, in my time of need. I still need to go back to Mt. Shasta, (within the next 2 weeks), to help cousin Rich with one of his projects, (I think it's going to be firewood cutting). Anyway, hope your project is going well....

Hey Rex,
Great looking cabinet doors! It's surprizing what nice strong doors that can be made with just a table saw and a dado blade.
I like the doggie hideout under the bench. With our little AS all the bench space is used for storage. Oscar the Weiner Dog doesn't mind because he then gets to snooze on the cushions.
Sounds like you and the Bunny have been having a great summer. We just got home from a trip to Two Harbors Minnesota. Nice weather and good friends. Water in Lake Superior hasn't warmed up enough to swim in ( it never does).
Camped next to another vintage AS (62 GT) from Mn, 2007 19' from Houston and a 73 Argosy was parked down the line.
By the way, I'm glad to see you stopped doing that planking thing, and please, no more of those scary under the trailer self portraits!

Hey Mr. 63....nice to hear from you. Sounds like you're having a grand old time up there in the "Great White North". I'm Hoping to get a couple more camping trips in myself... before winter, when the daytime temps only get up to the high 60's to low 70's...

My cousin Rich makes it look easy...making cabinet doors! I'm hoping he will help me build the upper (4) cabinet doors, later this month.

Tomorrow we are going to "Friday nite in the park" in downtown Shasta Lake City.

Today, I continued working on the sliding drawer, which I am installing in the food pantry... I will finish tomorrow.

The Bunny and I went to "Friday Nite in the Park", and met Bob and Sue there. The music was Blue grass tonite, good band & nice weather made for a nice nite out on the town....

Today I finished installing the sliding drawers...only hit my head a couple of times on the inside of the food pantry door.

In the PM, I cut and glued some wood spacers in the upper kitchen cabinet, so I can install wood panels to protect the wiring and lights.

Today I continued installing panel/floors within the overhead cabinets... Jack & Speedy wanted to hang out inside Rita, out of the daytime heat.

Today, I spent way to much time looking for a round exhaust cover for the oven exhaust hood. I went to Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Meeks, and finally Lowes.

Should have gone to Lowes first.... I found a light cover that was the right size, 6" dimeter, to fit the hole, and a oven hood replacement screen that I cut down to fit the light cover. I would like to find a chrome cover someday. But the round white cover will "do", for now.

The other small project that I worked on today... installing another magnetic stop at the bottom of the middle cabinet door. This allowed the doors to close evenlly at the bottom.

So...Today I ran the old TV antena cable from the house over to Rita, just to see how many channels I could get, if I was to upgrade from my $14.00 Walmart antena. 27 channels with the house antena! I finished cutting the last panel for the overhead cabinet, while watching "Rawhide" on Me TV.

Very hot today, so I spent the PM in the pool.

Today I'm building a "false drawer", that goes under the sink on the face plate of the kitchen cabinet. The size is approx. 9" x 33", so I had to glue two Red Birch boards together. I think I will leave it clapped until tomorrow...then cut to size, sand, and stain.

Hey TOP...nice to hear from you. Ask your daughter if those flip-flop-socks can be ordered with steel safety toes? I dropped my skillsaw on my big toe today.

Anyway, today I continued working on the false drawer....sanded for two hours...or so. My plan is to order a bamboo "Style" towel rack for dish towels, and mount this rack in the center of the false drawer.

I looked at a couple of towel racks; One at JW Woods, and one at Meek's, both were special order, and would take a couple of weeks to get... the cost was $120+. I found the same rack on the web for $65, (last pic).

First two pics are of the false drawer, in place with saw cuts made on the face, and without saw cuts. Next two pics are of bamboo style towel racks taken from the web. Pic #3 cost $24...

Which one looks the best?

Looks good Rex! I prefer number four. On the false door, I think the first looks better. You could also cut a square in it with a router.

Rex really coming along great. One thought though if you hang the towel rack on the false door every time you open and close the doors below the towel will get trapped behind the door. It will soon become a PITA to have to keep moving the towel all the time. Is there another spot for the rack?
