Today we got home from our camping trip to South Lake Tahoe...it was a 5 1/2 hour driver thru Nevada and up and over Hwy. 89, going passed Lassen National Park, than back to the the north end of the Great Central Valley & home.... Shasta Lake City.
I had WIfi at "Campground by the lake", but could not upload pics from the campground....so, "here we go, one pic at a time"
1st day with Deb & Tony @campground by the Lake. Who is that Doggy in the Window? Bunny & Rita...having a Rita! Looks like we now have one of those stuff toys that you take pics of when you're on vacation...

Pics of the lake, just across the road from the campground. It was a great weekend to fly our flag...and there was a contest for the most Red, White, & Blue trailer...we didn't won, but that's Okay. I just wanted my flag on Rita...for the 4th!

So, the camp host got mad at me because I ran into this local guy, who had a load of Jeff Pine in the back of his pickup, so I stopped and asked him if he wanted to sale the firewood...Must have firewood!, I love big Cowboy fires, like they have in Texas? Anyway, the host asked me to go outside the campground to buy the wood. So Tom and I...the wood cutter. Picked up the wood, and drove over to his place... I forgot my c-phone and jumped into my truck and drove over to Tom's house to pickup the wood.
I was thinking I would load the wood and drive back in 10 minutes, Tom wanted me to stay and the both of us would split a 1/4 cord of wood. 1 by 8 feet of wood. So, it took me over an hour to get back to the campground. The Bunny was not happy...no phone, and gone for an hour with a guy I don't know, and she watches all the "True Crime" shows on cable.
But I got home safe and with $300 dollars worth of wood, if I purchased my wood at $6. dollars a bundle from the gate guards.

Here's the Pics of Virgina City.... if you have any questions, ask The Bunny, or me! I love this town, because it is part of American History, and it's a living history of the Old West, so there is something about this town that I just love.
And yes it's a Tourist Trap, but it's still fun to go there for the 4th July, or the motorcycle runs, & Camel Race's. The RV park is ruff, but very close to Main Street, and I you want to enjoy the town and not drive, this is the place to park your Airstream. This was an 1 hour drive from our campground......

Did this "Planking thing" come from Iowa? Not...it came from California! Anyway, here are the girls planking things outside the campground. I guess I should start a planking thread?

Day three was great, we went swmming at the "Heavenly Ski Run Beach" area, walked around a car show, and than went up to the top the Heavenly...by Gondola. Another fun day and a big time tourist trap, but fun with people who have never gone there....

So, on the last day that Deb & Tony were here, my truck dedided to start leaking diesel fuel. I lost maybe a 1/4 tank of fuel driving it to the dodge dealership from Tahoe to Reno. But, they fixed the leak for a $29. dollar fuel filler and O-ring.
Overall The Bunny and I had a good time, but we both want to go back to Lake Syskiyou next year for the 4th of July, because it's closer to home, and more like real campin'.
And hopefully, some of our friends will join us at Lake Syskiyou...
Pic of my backyard, as I up-date my thread...

More pics of Virgina City...the lady in the silverdollar dress, & the 1870's men's club that is hauted, The Comstock Club.
If you want to read more about Virgina City & Lake Tahoe, read Mark Twain's book, "Ruffing It".

Mr. Bwood, You would have loved the pet parade they had at "Campground by the lake". With a touch of Red, White, & Blue, you would have won hands down with your dogs!

During our camping trip to South Lake Tahoe, I did have some issues with my black water tank. Paper wasn't flushing out of the tank, and there was a build-up in the tank. My question to any of you, who are experts on waist water.... what should I use to break down the paper, so I can have a clean & paper free black water tank? And, how many gallons does a 31'/1972 blackwater tank hold? I am guessing 15 gallons?????? I looked in my airstream manual, and couldn't find the answer.
More pics of Heavenly ski area....snow tubing, and the overlook at the 9100 foot level.

Rex if you're up to your waist in water then the tank is definately too full. LOL.
Seriously though for your waste water tank a few things. Use TP designed for holding tanks, 1 ply which is designed to break down quickly and make sure you have a lot more water than waste and use a digester type chemical for odor which will also help in the break down. Lots of people put a bag of ice cubes down the tank and drive for several miles before dumping. The cubes help break up the waste and TP and will just melt away.

Mr. Was....I knew you would have some good information. Do you know the size of the black water tank for my 31'/72?
More pics of Heavenly ski area.....the bunny breaking the rules....again. Nice snow boots! The old guy planking, the lodge at the 9,100+ foot level.
