Hey Lance... Porno Bob did Pex the front half. We both looked at the rear copper and felt that it was still good to go. You can't see it, but there is some Pex connecting the bathroom sink to the old plumbing.

The new Pex starts from an adapter under the bathroom tub...Bob had to "Silver solder" the old copper because it had been frozen, one to many times, over the years, and no longer fit a "Standard" copper fitting, (adapter).

That was the main reason I had Bob do the plumbing work, and not me.

Does Pex do better with freezing? I was wondering what the benefits of Pex were?

Yes, Ken... it can freeze and expand but not break and slip like copper...

Today, it was 103 degrees in Shasta Lake City, (SLC), so I went for a motorcycle ride to the high county... First stop was Shingletown KOA 40 miles east of SLC on Hwy 44. I have been wanting to stay here because it's only 14 miles outside Lassen National Park.

The campground is very nice and clean, set in the tall pines & cedars, (approx. 5,000 foot level). The pull-thru's cost $42, cabins are $68, and tent sites are $18. The restrooms are clean with three shower units in each side...the pool was closed for the season.

My next stop was the Museum and campground at Manzanita lake in Lassen National Park. The campground costs $18 per night...all dry sites/no power, with a dump station located on the way out.

I did notice one Airstream parked in the campground...nobody around. The campground is located next to Manznita lake with a boat ramp and small campground store within walking distance. I noticed lots of campers with lake kayaks...looks like a great place to paddle and fish, max trailer size is 31'.

My 3rd stop was at the Mt Lassen trailhead... The trail is closed for repairs at the 1.3 mile mark, so I didn't hike. One of the Park Rangers said that it wouldn't be open until next summer...so hopefully, I can make the hike next year.

Stop number 4 was at the Bumpass Hell trailhead, (BHT), 1 1/2 mile flat hike from that location, except for the last 100 foot drop into the thermally active basin, it's the largest concentration of hydrothermal features in the park...it was named after an early settler who severly burned a leg after falling into a boiling pool.. it's a must see!

Also from BHT parking lot at the 8,000 foot level, one can look out at Diamond peak, Brokeoff Mt, and kids clumbing one big rock.

My last stop in the park was at the south exit... There is an old ski lodge, that is now a visitor center. As a young person, in the 60's, we would go snow skiing there. The Park pulled the ski area out, once Mt. Shasta opened to the public in the mid 80's.

Lots of Harley's on the road today.

Once I left the Park, I traveled west on Hwy 36 to the Manton Road cutoff, than north by northwest on the Wildcat road, thru the Holiday ranch, with their miles & miles of rock walls! Nice ride and back home by 5:00 PM, total miles 120 round trip.

Hey Marc.... I had my camera in my vest pocket on my right side. If I wanted to take a photo while riding, I would first slip my hand thru the strap on the camera, and than pull it out of my pocket and snap the pic.

Also the Wildcat road, that runs thru the Holiday Cattle Ranch, doesn't get much traffic...plus, most large poker runs always run thru that part of Shasta county...because it's such a beautiful ride thru the front country.

Here's some pics of today's Air Show at Redding airport...Lots of very cool planes & Jets, and also a Car Show.

The Bunny won free tickets for the air show....so we did a walk-thru, and had a $5 beer. Once we looked at everything we wanted to look at, we left the air show, and drove over to my nephew's house on the south end of the airport. There we had food, drink, chairs, and shade...a much better place to enjoy the Thunderbirds, with friends and famliy!

I was so happy that we went over to my nephew's place... The Thunderbrids were flying right over the top of us, (at low level), because Eric's house is straight south of the airport, and the flight path they were using during there performance. And yes...I pulled the following pics off there official website. All I have is a $100 dollar "Snap & Shoot" camera. But the photos shown, is what we saw today, I promise!
