Getting Rita ready for the "Dog Pound" campout and Poker run... Hottest day of the year, here in the greater Redding area, 107 degrees! Lakeshore Inn & RV is only 500 feet higher in elevation than Redding CA, so it's not going to be much cooler there.
"The winnie bite contest", (hotdog), from a couple of years ago, at Lakeshore

Just got back from Lakeshore Inn & RV resort... We had a great time, with our friends. And the Dog Pound, (WHO LET THE DOGS OUT!!! WHO...WHO, WHO-WHO-WHO-WHO), raised over $8,000 bucks for the Haven Humane. The food was good, Tri-tip & Chichen, and the party was not as wild as last year, which was a good thing.

Here are more pics from Friday night... we had lots of folks who wanted to see the inside of Rita. Most had never been inside an Airstream, so they were surprised that there is so much room. They were also surprised to learn that the inside was not the original design. Note: The Bunny had her new "Prada Purse" with her Friday night.

As a retired fireman, today holds a special meaning... I was working on a wildland fire on the Eldorado National Forest on Sept. 11, 2001. In fire camp, we had a "State of California" communication trailer with satellite TV showing real time video of the planes crashing into the towers.
All the hard work that my fire team and I had done on that fire met nothing! I felt like someone had kicked me in the stomach, I felt beat-up... I felt mentally & physically exhausted! And I just wanted to go home, and see my family...and be with them.
For myself and many other fireman, that day was surreal, more like a dream or nightmare... It was really hard to process what had happened that day.
It wasn't until I got home from that fire, did I allow myself to cry for my fallen 343 brothers. And to truly realize how much that day had changed my life, and the world around me... forever!
10 years later... I just want to thank our brave serviceman, (and servicewomen), firemen, and police for their service to our country. I honor you everytime I ride my harley, when someone comes up to me, and asks, "What is the meaning of the "343" on your bike?" I can tell them what that number means!
Engine 57 is another sad story of loss...which I will share on a later date....
Thank-you for your public sevice!

The Bunny got a new sign on Monday...I mounted it last night when she got home from work. It covers some the rivet holes from the old sign that was covering the old speaker cut out in the wall.

Thanks Jim... The Bunny keeps me on my toes! And retirement has been pretty good so far, plus we both love to go camping/RV'ing. And Northern Califorina is a great place to live, if you like to camp, ride bikes, or any other type of outdoor adventures you're into.
Today, I hit a "Roadblock".... I have been looking at the idea of using some type of accordion doors for the closest area between the kitchen and bathroom. I have looked at the products at Home Depot and Lowes, both have the same stuff....wrong color, no birch photo wood in stock. Price goes up from $25 to $125+ per door for special orders and colors.
The funny thing is...if you do a web search on accordion doors for RV's. The best information on the web, brings you right back to the "Air Forum".
Anyway, I found some good information, but I need to do more research before I decide what I am going to do in that area. Please feel free to send me your ideas...here's some pics of the closet area, as it looks right now.

Today I've been trying to get thru to Inland RV to buy a Rock Guard for Rita...our 72/31'. On sale right now! I want to get it mounted before our next RV outing, which is in two weeks. This weekend we are hosting our "End of Summer Pool Party & Cowboy Campfire Event".
Update: Just got thru on the phone...they are shipping today or Monday.

Last night we had our annual "End of Summer Fiesta"...good food, good friends, and lots of beer! The new sound system in Rita "Got a good workout"... I'm surprised our fine neighbors didn't call the cops, instead, they came over and had a beer. We are the neighbor's from hell, with the loud music... You know who I'm taking about! The one's you wish... would move away.
It was a good thing we had a campfire last night, because Henry & Debbi decided to jump in the pool with all their clothes on, and it was a cool evening.

No, you are the neighbors I wish I had! Sounds like a lot of fun! (And I suspect you would never complain about the Airstream in the driveway.)

Hey Top....does that mean you're the loudest in your neighborhood?
Hey are you watching the football game... 49ers vs. Cowboys? 77 yard play by the Cowboys in OT!

No Rex. Sorry. I'm a Texas transplant. I can't bring myself to like any Texas sports teams except the Rangers. I'm a die hard Oakland Raiders fan!

Inland RV called today and said that my Rock Guard is back-ordered, and it may take up to a month before I get it....bummer man, bummer. I wanted to have it installed on Rita before our next RV outing to Feather Falls in two weeks.

Today I removed the rear door off of Rita, than removed the old rubber seal & replaced with new... When I mounted the door back on the Old Girl, I added 7 more rivets along the bottom hinge of the door.
There were only three rivets holding the door in place? Does that sound right? Only three rivets? Removed the old glue & dirt with a Dermal tool before gluing the new rubber seal onto the door ... works very well for that task...I must say.
