I second the self learning option and this comes from a guy who had to work with the NOT self learning system. When I finally had it running decent I was so paranoid that I bought a second ECU and transferred everything I had so painfully adjusted. And all that with a win95 laptop.I think Dave who bought the 310 is still running it with my settings.

Thanks for the info. I think the guy that will be doing the work back in Indiana was talking about that Holley, so good to know it's one that somebody here has used. I will see about ordering it from the place you mention, though I think my guy has an account with Summit.

Sounds familiar (what I had done with my Diesel Jeep before there was a decent online community swapping tunes). I had a crappy pawn shop laptop running windows just for this purpose.

The Holley hardware is great, their internal tech support leaves a lot to be desired

alright, so the (second) new transmission made it to the shop yesterday. Motorhome should theoretically be ready for pickup around Labor Day, fingers crossed

Any transport company recommendations?

The new transmission went in last week, test drove it a couple times on a couple days and everything was working fine, was all set to pick it up tomorrow

Now I'm in town, and over the weekend apparently it started leaking fluid, not from the cooling lines or pan apparently, so they're hunting that down.

Fingers crossed it's easily fixable but my hopes aren't super high.

So, in the event it's not, any transport company recommendations? I'm not leaving it here till January since wait times for a transmission from hughes are 4 months +. I can do that at home.

You'd think a company confident enough to have a 3 year warranty would be better than this.

Had a friend that went through three 6.5 diesel engines from O'Reilly before he got a good one!

You'd think a company confident enough to have a 3 year warranty would be better than this.

Probably just the small governor cover leaking. You will be on the road in no time.

Alllllrighty
Apparently the vent tube came pre clogged from the factory causing fluid to blow out the disptick. So that's sorted and the new transmission is working fine.

Went by the shop yesterday, chased a black widow out of the tow bar cover, revived the stone cold dead house batteries, took it for a test drive. Even fixed the squeaky alternator belt.

Picked it up today, held a small funeral for my bank account (parts + labor totaled $6.8k, actually not horrible especially since transport home would have been more than that on its own), and so far have put down 300 miles and the transmission is working a-ok averaged 7mpg and steady 140f on some hills.

Of course, you're never allowed to leave a pro shop with fewer problems than when you left, thankfully nothing stopping me from making tracks east.

The new transmission cooler wasn't mounted great, had to apply some zipties as it was coming loose and making a racket

Fixed the exhaust leak but now have a rattle coming from somewhere, also making a racket. Need to redo the whole system from engine to muffler.

Gear vendors started acting wonky almost immediately, couldn't decide if it wanted to engage or not, then stuck and wouldn't disengage, after 150 mi seems to have fail-safed into the normal non-overdrive mode. No idea why but at this point I'll drive it home without using it and worry about it later.

And a nice big dent in the right rear quarter. It was already dented to be fair but now bigger likely from someone pushing on it. A few minutes with a suction cup got most of it out, and it'll need more love when I get home, but oh well, I think it'll come out ok.

simple fix on the leak, good for them to locate it. When they installed a new trans in my old 310 , they added 9 quarts to an already filled trans

Did the spider have the red hour glass? Something is going on with your 310 attracting red wild life....

Glad to hear that you are back on the road.

The GV on our 345 did not work right when we got it, took increasingly longer to engage OD when turned on. Had it serviced when the coach overwintered in Anchorage, and now it works fine. I read somewhere that there is a second screen filter inside the unit and asked the shop to find it and clean it, not just empty and refill.

So this morning I started the engine and it fired right up. Then started the generator, and shut the engine off, and let the genset run for about an hour to recharge the house batteries which died overnight.

Then went to start the coach and had to crank and crank and crank and give it gas to get it to start. Then it died at the first light. Now it's fine now that the engine is hot, but I'm scratching my head as to what would cause that.

Odd, but one thing you have established: your House batteries are toast and putting a heavy burden on your alternator. I would replace them. Did you ever get to replace your isolator with that Victron you purchased?

Never got the chance. They're ok, mostly I think they got low last night from running the maxxair fans all night

200 miles so far today, fuel average unchanged, no issues since this morning but something seems different climbing hills.

Either it's in my head, or it's the overdrive/lack thereof, or its the new transmission/torque converter, or the honda gained some weight, or trying to fix the exhaust leaks has messed with the AFR... Something, but a major interstate hill that seemed like it would have been 40mph before was now taken at 25 in second gear.

Made it 300 miles yesterday for a total of 600, stopping in Wyoming

The haul up out of salt lake city sucked but hopefully that's the worst of it

Fired right up this morning, Steve suggested it might have just been a fillup on bad gas, praying that was all it was

Rob,

I use a product called Sea Foam in the gas tank. It's great for soaking up any moisture in the fuel and also does a great job of keeping the fuel system clean. I've tried other products but Sea Foam seems to be the one that works for me.

I'd suggest filling your tank and pouring in a couple of cans. You might be surprised......
