Today was a really "Crappy" day. The neighbor's sewer line backed up into my yard (2 homes, one line). None of the men were home, so I went to Ace hardware and rented a sewer snake, and got some new rubber gloves. Then went to work, unpluging the 4' line. Looks like there is a crack in the line and roots are growing into it, so I got some "root" killer and poured that down the cleanout once it was clear of "Black" water.
The cleanout has a rubber cap over the hole... which pops off if the line gets pluged. I may get a PVC threaded cap and replace the rubber. If I do this, the sewer line will back-up into Billy's house. I guess I could give him fair warning, so he could place a pop-off cap on the cleanout in his backyard.
My house has a separate sewer line.
My neighbor's... Billy & Rick both gave me money to cover the rental & fuels costs...once they got home from work. The fun is never ending here in old town "Pine Grove".
Needless to say, I didn't get any work done on the Old Girl, and missed the planned bike ride with the Bunny.

Today The Bunny and I went on a bike ride on the upper most part of the the River trail, form Shasta Dam to the Convention Center, 20 miles. Nice workout, great weather, and a fun ride. The only issue today was that the Bunny left her keys in my truck, so when we got to the convention center where her car was staged, we had to call for a friend to come and get us.

Today The Bunny and I went on a motorcycle ride with Capt. Kirk, and John & Cathy. We started out having lunch at the Old Mill Eatery in Shasta Lake City and finished the ride at French Gulch at the Oldest Bar in Shasta County, E. Frank and Co. We also stopped at Roster's Landing next to the Sacramento River south/east of Redding. We were hoping to run into Teste out in cow country...but we didn't.

More pics from today.... E. Frank and Co. is full of antiques from the 1850's Gold mining days. Lots of old guns, whiskey & beer bottles, posters, and other everyday items from the 1800's. If you like Old West History, You'll love this place. PS just a couple of miles down the road is Oak Bottom campground within Whiskeytown Nat. Park.

Yep....great day, Trainer of Personnel! If you ever plan to bring your family out this way, bring Lake Kayak's. Oak Bottom Campground is right on Whiskeytown lake. They Also rent fishing, patio, and sail boats at the Oak Bottom marina. Also there is an Off-Road riding area for atv's & dirt bikes just past French Gulch. And all this is less than 20 miles outside of our little "Hick Town" of Redding.

I want to show all of you, The Bunny's new surfboard rug.... and I was going to show the real wood outlet covers, (installed), but they are too small, don't fit. So, it looks like they need to be sent back, or used in the house! Bummer man!!!! I am guessing; outlet covers were made "bigger" in the 70's. Something to think about if you want to order outlet covers off the web.

Today's itinerary; walk dogs, drop gardening books off at sister's business, go see mom at hospital, stain overhead cabinet, go for bike ride, check of mom in the PM.
Love the Red grain in the cabinet face plate....

Did some lite sanding on the overhead cabinet & sprayed some PB penetrating catalyst on all the axle nuts & bolts. I should be getting my new axles anyday now.
Once I got that stuff done, I went on a bike ride from my house to the rivertrail and back to my place....approx. 30 mile ride. Got home at 4:00 and did some yardwork, pruning the grape vines. Good day, at the old "Duck Farm."

Cool beans!
Rex my Man!
Hope your axle replacement goes well. I'm sure it will. I see you have the wheel well trim removed. Are you doing more repairs than replacing the axles?
That is a nice scooter ya got there. Is that a helmet I see? I wouldn't suspect you of the helmet wearing type!
Can't wait to see your progress. Peace and hair grease!

In Cailfornia helmets are required... I have been tracking the axles for almost a week. Looks like I will need to drive to Corning, Ca. to pick-up the axles....Corning is approx. 40 miles down river from Redding. I was too lazy to go outside and take a new pic of axles, so I used an old one. Good catch TOP, Trainer of Personnel!

Hey Trex,
It's been a while. The surfboard rug looks great, why not upgrade the recepticles and keep those cool wood plates?
Keep both hands on that drill when you do those axles. The only problem I encountered was how to keep the axle from rolling around while lifting it into place. They are kinda heavy.
By the way, what's hip and trendy in summer foot wear? No socks?

Oh geez. I guess I take for granted living in Texas and seeing bikers riding without helmets. States rights you know!

I second the two hand rule with the drilling! My wrist still isn't right!
Go barefoot Rex!

Looking forward to the axles showing up soon, before it gets to hot at the Old Duck Farm to install them. I am hoping Mr. Silverhoot and maybe my biker friend "Indian Mike," can help me install. Indian Mike is heavy duty truck mechanic... and Mr Hoot installed his axles with no help. So, hopefully they will keep me out of trouble... and safe.

Maybe you should just see if the outlet covers work? The big ones may not be hiding anything under there that the small ones could cover. I too like the shiny bike... red like your (fire)truck? Although I remember from my CA days that some of them where kinda neon green/yellow...
I'd get some steel toe'd surfer flip flops when those axles come... would hate to lose a toenail or two if one fell on my foot!

I snapped some more photos of the outlet and cover this morning. As you can see from the photos the cover isn't wide enough to cover the outlet box. The Bunny and I would like to use the wooden outlet cover, so maybe I could use some type of thin backing between the outlet cover and the outlet box? Almost like having a frame around the cover. Any ideas out there?
Photo of front yard vineyard & Pears...after yesterday's prining. And Speedy and Jacky on the sofa... wishing they were going camping!
