MS. reinergirl.... thanks for the kind words. The Bunny and I had a great time at Lake Syskiyou. I didn't take my laptop, so I am just now downloading the photos...99 pics total of the camping trip.

Friday night, the party was at Porno Bob & Indian Mike's campsite. They were tent camping and their site was approx. 1/2 mile from our campsite, so we road our bicycles....this place is huge! Our campsite was closer to the water and next to the rental cabinets.

On Sat. Wino Wayne & Roxanne got there....they stayed at our campsite, using my 60 sec. tent, and air matress. Greg & Terri, and John & Cathy also showed up in the early PM....They stayed in the cabins next to our site.

Once everyone got settled in, we all went for a bike ride, except Indian Mike who went fishing. Some of our friends had not seen Rita for months, so I think they were surprised that Rita was back together and how she looks now.

Looks like a grand time Rex! How'd she tow? Smooth as silk I bet. Camping is why we bought our shiny silver girls after all.

Rita towed like a dream...I stayed at 55mph and it only took one hour to get to Lake Syskiyou. Tomorrow I will check the running gear, and than start on the cabinet doors. We are going South Lake Tahoe in two weeks! So, I would like to try to get as many of the doors completed as time allows.

The cabins where Greg & Terri stayed are really nice... most have a view of the lake.

On Sunday, we rented a patio boat and went out on the water. I got to be the "Captain", because I was the 1st person there, and the only one in the group not drinking beer in the AM. The Rental rate for the 10 person patio boat is $36. per hour.

Once we got out away from the marina...we let the two 14 year olds take over the operation of the boat. The county just built a new bridge for hiking and biking, so I wanted to take a look at that. Great weather for a boat cruise....

On Sat. we biked over to the swimming beach, where you can rent kayak's amd paddle boats...they also have a rock climbing wall and a trampoline out in the water. Looks like great place to play on a warm day...it was in the 60's on Sat. And, none of us got in the 60 degree water. But, the kids were having a "Rockin" time!

There is also a nice little general store, and a pizza parlor/beer pub.

Today I setup my cabinet shop on wheels...had to move to the shady side of the house, temps in the 90's. Cut out and assembled two of the cabinet door. The small door in the photos will be the false door that fits just below the sink. The large door in the photos will be the access door to the plumbing below the sink. The plan is to build the large doors in one piece, then cut into two doors, once I'm sure it's going to fit.

Hey Trex,
Looks like you had a great trip to the lake. Rita looks fantastic!
Glad to hear that your making your own cabinette doors. Doing it your self, your own way, is what we're all about.
Gotta love the smell of sawdust in the morning!

Mr. 63...nice to hear from you, and thanks, The Bunny and I had a great time at Lake Syskiyou. I love going back to Syskiyou County, because I lived there for 10 years, and worked on the Klamath National Forest as a Fire Captain,(back in the 90's). I may take Rita back to lake Syskiyou after the 4th of July campout, and park her for a month or two.... need to check on their monthly rates. There are so many other things one can do in that area...but we didn't have enough time to go on the day trips one can make from that location. So, maybe later this summer, I can give you all the "411" on some of the other activities aval. in the area.

I was hoping that I would have enough Red birch to complete the doors...not! I just hope that Auburn Hardwoods has more aval. That 1st door is pretty ruff, and will take lots of sanding to get it ready for stain. But the good thing is....if I don't like it, I can always build another one and replace.

More pics of the camping trip to Lake Syskiyou...the interior of Rita.

Today I finished sanding and staining the false door below the sink. I got it installed in the PM once the stain was dry. Used some Gorilla wood glue and some small finish nails to attach to the cabinet face frame. The finish nails were so small, I had to hold them in place with a small set of vise grips....worked pretty good! I only hit myself once in the head with the hammer.....so it was a pretty righteous day .

Trex,
I think they call it Gorilla glue cuz thats what your hands look like for the next week.
I made similar doors for our cabinets, used local cherry and stained birch for the panels. You're right, if you goof up - make another.
I spent the day (after fixing the rototiller that jumped off the utility trailer) polishing the bird poop stains off Rusty's roof.
This last weekend we drove to Wisconsin's east shore, Lake Michigan. We camped at a nice park called Kohler Andrae State Park. On Tuesday we drove into the town of Kohler and toured the Kohler factory (tubs and motors) probably the last of the great American foundries. Nice 3 hour tour the DW even enjoyed it.
Politics here still stink, sounds like Cal. has it's problems too.

Mr. 63...You should post some pics of the great Lake M. I would be interested. If you have them on a thread here on the forum, please let me know where....

When I go camping with my biker buddy's, I always need a day or two at home to recover. They like to call themselves "The Lost Boys" when they are on their bikes. I was calling them "The Lost Huffy's" on their bicycles. Porno Bob didn't think I was funny.

Calfornia's state Employees are some of the highest paid in the nation, so they are taking some hard hits. Our New Governor is going to have to make some tough decisions. But it seems like he's been laying as low as our Old Governor (The baby maker). Times are strange here in the land of....

The AC stopped working in our home, too hot in the house! So, the last couple of days, The Bunny and I have been "camping" (watching TV & having dinner), in Rita in the backyard. Once the house has cooled down we move back in for bedtime. Nice to have that option!

So, today I am waiting for the AC guy to show....hopefully between 1100 & 200 pm. I will sand and put another coat of stain on my one and only door. Once the AC guy is finished, I will go to Auburn Hardwoods and pick out some Red birch, from the white birch unit of lumber....cheaper that way. Get home and roll out the tablesaw and cut into 2" boards.

The AC guy came by and made his inspection... He found that the compressor needed to be replaced. And the unit is 12 years old, so he didn't know if Payne AC makes a replacement compressor for that old of a unit. He said that they will call today with their estimate, and our options...if any!

The bottom line is....The Bunny and I will be living in Rita in the backyard for the two weeks, or until we go to South Lake Tahoe for the 4th of July. It's a good thing I have 30 amp power to Rita, so we can run the AC.

We are a Trailer Park of one! And if...

Any (home) AC guys out there in Airstream land? If so, any advice, to keep the price down!

Hey Rex,
Sorry about the luck. I'm not an AC guy but my Father In Law is. He says the standard line that "they don't make that compressor anymore" is just so you'll buy a new one. However, it may cost just as much to fix an old one as replace it. And you know, they don't make them like they used to.
