Congratulations to you and the Bunny both on your anniversary and the fine job you've done on the Old Girl. Now it's time to enjoy the fruits of your labor...

Thanks Mr. Drift... we stayed an extra nite at Rolling Hills, because The Bunny won some money and paid for the RV site. I loss some money, playing poker slot machines, but not much.

Saturday, I took the dogs on a long walk next to the golf course; Jacky can be let off his leash and had a great time running in the open fields, Speedy would run straight back to the trailer if I was to let him off his leash.

The weather was clear and warm, (65 degrees) so I didn’t get the opportunity to wear my Stormy Kormer. We didn’t do any cooking in the Old Girl, but we both really enjoyed the “All you can eat” buffet. The only bummer was that we didn’t have coffee this morning and it was raining when I was breaking camp. Once I got everything put away and ready to go….it stopped raining.

The last time we camped, (Superbowl), the bed wasn’t finished. This trip the homemade sofa performed really well, very happy with the finished product.

Also purchased some seat cushions from Wal-Mart for the weekend, they worked just OK, and The Bunny didn’t like the print on the fabric, so I will return them on Monday. But it was nice of Wal-Mart to loan us cushions for the weekend.

If you plan to build you own diner, pick out cushions first and then build the diner to fit them. Or, you can pay big money to have custom cushions made by a upholsetery shop. I will need to add an inside section of wood, so a pre-made cushion would fit nice and snug in the booth.

Overall we both had a great time and really enjoyed staying in the Old Girl…. I will post photos once The Bunny returns from the store, the camera is in her purse.

Yep, its a fun place to go if you like to gamble. The only thing I don't like, they don't have a cardroom.

"FB" = front bed...we both wanted an Island Queen bed. That was one of the issues we had with our old trailer, one person had to crawl over the other to get out of bed.

Sofa to Island Queen bed... note that the kitchen cabinets had to be set back 1 1/2 feet from door, to make room to walk around the bed. That means the orginial LP gas heater was removed also.

Today I continued working on the diner...someday I will finish that damm thing! Anyway I took back the cushions to Wal-Mart, and looked for cushions at all of the Big name stores in Redding, didn't find anything.

Tonite the Bunny and I went out for dinner and stopped by K-Mart...they didn't have any Red cushions, but I did run into a Leprechaun. Happy St. Patty's day Streamer's

Today it rained hard here in Shasta Lake City.... so, I went into Redding town to pickup fabric samples (Red), and two 12v 20 watt flood lights.

Late PM, I continued working on the diner, by cuting and fitting some 1/4" birch plywood over the 3/4" plywood seats. Still need to stain the 1/4" brich plywood and buy some more alum. angle to finish the diner trim.

The Bunny looked at the samples... she didn't see anything she liked, so we're still looking for the right color fabric.

Finished vs unfinished look....

Today I finished the wood section of the diner, (1/4" birch stained & glued in place), and most of the alum. trim. Still need to sew cushions, or have the upholstery shop make the cushions, (we still haven't picked out fabric).

In the AM, I dropped my plans off for a custom made diner tabletop at Brother's Countertop's... they said it would be done in 7 days. It should match the Kitchen countertop, which the Bunny and I both like…

Hey Rex,
I like the idea of renting cushions from Wallymart. Things are really coming together.
You can tell that spring is coming, no more socks! They just get wet in the rain.
Can you tell me about the antenna, I need something but don't want to mount anything on the roof.
Looking good in the Stormy!
Happy St Paddy's Day to you and The Bunny

The $14 antenna is made for indoor use, it was the cheapest antenna Wal-Mart had for sale. It didn't work inside the trailer, so I used an old Sat. antenna tri-pod and a section of white PVC plastic pipe to make a stand for it. Placed it outside the Old Girl and hooked it up.... works great! ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, THiS, and 3-PBS's all come-in really well, here at the house. I watched the local news in the Old Girl tonight.

I need to find an suction cup that I can stick to the outside of the old girl and hang the $14 antenna off the window on the streetside, and get rid of the tri-pod. I was thinking of something lke this.....

Those suction cups rarely stay on especially when exposed to fluctuating temperature. Try instead one of the Command hooks.... they are awesome and are great products for hanging pictures and such where you don't want to cause damage. Command

TOP, Trainer of Personnel, I liked the Wal-Mart cushions and would have kept them....but The Bunny didn't like them, (she likes the color, but not the print), so I took them back. You don't think that would mess with the Evil Empire, do you.

Miss Reinergirl....Thanks for the tip... do they sell that product at Wal-Mart? I'm feeling like I need to "really" buy sometime from them. And not take to back after the weekend is over.

As you can see from the photo, this antenna is not very big, (aprox. 22" long) and has a hole in the back that looks like you could hang off the wall with a small finish nail or a command hook!

Ah, so feeling slightly guilty over appropriating the cushions for a weekend huh? Keeping the missus happy being the name of the game.... I refer you to Walmarts offerings of Command hooks!!!!!! Walmart.com: Search Results for "command hooks"

PS the only problem with these hooks (and I of course discovered this the hard way) is that they can be removed easily in warm weather but when cold they tend to break off... as long as you do any repositioning in the warmer temps you'll be good to go!
