Today I started building the top shelve above the fridge and food pantry. I got the top cut out and in-place and mocked the cover and side for the fridge air vent.

Thanks TOP.... The Bunny and I didn't win any money on St. Patty's day at Win-River. But we did enjoy the day and the project is going in the right direction on the Old Girl. More photos of today's Project.

I was in and out of the Old Girl 20 times re-cutting the radius side-cover of the fridge vent....

Today I finished cutting the alum. trim for the shelf above the fridge. Next step is to break down and stain 1/4" birch plywood, than put it back together.

Rex and The Bunny,
I like the three bottle carpenters level (post321). Is that used when cutting those curves? How many trips to the trailer?

Mr 63...We are thinking about using that area as our liquor cabinet...so I set the bottles up there to see how much room there would be. One idea is to have some kind of "Top Shelf" display case or rack, where the bottles could ride up there safely without moving them when driving down the road.

I have been looking at the web for ideas. But, I haven't had any "visions" on what kind material the rack or case would be made of... metal, wood, or maybe a wine basket? Not sure. Tonight I will keep looking on the web.

Broke down the shelf today, hoping it would stop raining, so I could sand the parts outside. No such luck, over 2 1/2" of rain, and wind gusts up to 60mph last nite and today. Lots of big trees down, looks like Redding got hit pretty hard by the wind. I'm happy to say, that the big oaks in my back yard are hanging in there.

Rex,
Just wondering if you could use sections of PVC ( 4"?) to make holders for that precious cargo.
By the way, I just resized all my restoration (1200x900) pics. Any tips for posting pictures?

I don't really have any advice for you Tim... I know that the photos that I post daily take longer to post, than photos I use off the web. Like this one of the DUDE! When I uploaded this photo, it only took seconds. Four photos that I have taken that day, may take 5 minutes or longer to upload...not sure why?

Today I stopped by Brother's Countertops, to see how the "Diner Tabletop" was progreessing... "slow" would be the word of the day. They just ordered the formica today. Came home and stained the birch plywood sections that goes over the fridge.

Took Speedy to the Vets in the PM.... They said that he has a tumor. $800+ to have it cut off. There goes my axle money....again! I take him back on Friday for surgery. Speedy needs to get a job to pay for his vet bills!

Slow. Kinda how a lot of things are in the Airstream restorations. I hope Speedy has a successful surgery. Actually that is a good price compared to what it would cost to have a tumor removed from a human. I wish him a "Speedy" recovery!

Thanks TOP... Hopefully Speedy will do fine. We were going RV'ing this weekend, but now we are going to stay home with Speedy. It's not like we don't get to go camping, last year we went out 17 times with our old RV. But we both love going in the Airstream, it feels more like a home than our old Toy Hauler.

Today I started on the cabinets over the kitchen countertop. The orginial cabinet was 72" long, this one will be 116" long. I was having problems finding some of the origninal aluminum extrusions, (trim). So, I purchased 25 feet of 1 1/2" angle aluminum, and will use 2" Red birch as the face frame for the cabinets. So the new cabinets will be a combination of original trim, and new birch & angle aluminum framework.

We have never gone camping without Jacky and Speedy....

Oh Speedy, he doesn't mean it. Your job performance as his canine companion pays the bill!

Thanks....Speedy will do just fine. Jacky and Speedy are like our kids. I still wish he had a job to pay for his vets bill!

Hard rain and hail today....no work on the old girl. Moved and replanted some garlic in the yard between thunderstorms.

planting garlic

Here in So. Jersey we plant garlic around the end of July. It sets there all winter and sprouts in the spring. When it matures and the stems fall over it is ready to pull up. Sal.

Mr. Hoot... you're right, I should have moved all my garlic in November, and I did move some of it. But I have 100's & 100's of plants all over the yard...and as you know, garlic grows like weeds. So, when I make time to do some gardening, I pull last year's bulbs and spilt them into 6 plants or more, trim the roots and re-plant. If you would like some garlic plants let me know... I am running out of room.

Today, Brothers Countertop's called and said my Table top, and the countertop above the fridge were ready to be picked up. So, I installed both in the PM.

Late PM, the Bunny and I picked up Speedy at the Vets...his tumor was removed with no problems. Speedy is sleeping on sofa with Jacky, and The Bunny.
