Joined in '57 out in '61. Was the athletic coordinator at a naval air station in Florida. Hey ........someone had to do it. It gets worse.......a life guard at the officers pool...........and worse............their wives were there. Hope my wife doesn't see this. That's what the Nave wanted me to do. What was I suppose to do? I did it.

Just doin what I was told...

did my 2 years during the height of Nam... 69-71. A year in the states at Ft. Polk and a year in Berlin watching Freulines and drinking German beer. SP4 was where I ended. Glad I didn't go to Nam... Wish no one else did. Wish no one had to fight a foreign war ever again... If the bad guys come on shore in the states.... I'll be the first one out of my fox hole.

Face from the past

Fond this old photo while digging in the attic for something else. It was creased, stained, and hole punched, but with the magic of Photoshop, I got it looking fair;y decent.

Man! I was really a serious-looking character 52 years ago! The photo was taken 30 June, 1955, a month after my eldest daughter was born at the base hospital.

I still have that pair of silver wings. They were the ones pinned on me whn I was commissioned.
