Someone found this poem, hand written on a piece of paper in his father's WWII uniform.
God and the soldier we adore,
In time of danger, and not before;
The danger passed, and all things righted,
God is forgotten and the soldier is slighted.

A song
MEMORIAL
My father told me stories
about heroes and glory
serving in the second world war
And how young men got drafted
and soon there after
very few were young men anymore
My fathers companions
died in the canyons
and the oceans and fields overseas
and there we must leave them
we have no where to grieve them
this memorial is all that they need
where is the place
to remember the faces
and the names of those heroes forevermore
Sailors and Soldiers
never got any older
cause they died for their country
in the second world war.
"Micheal McCloud"
at the WWII memorial dedication ceremony.

You know what would be cool is if some of the people I was stationed with or the Researvists that I trained owned AS's and seen my post and contacted me after all these years.
There is one that I was really good freinds with and we lost contact with each other over the years with me driving truck that I would really like to get back in contact with. His name was Jim Thrash and worked in the inflight Kitchen.

Sarge, try Benefiting the US Army, US Navy, US Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard - Military.com. I haven't been to that site in good while, but they used to either host or link to other sites that host groups of military organizations. You could search by unit name, IIRC. I just can't remember exactly where I saw it. Think reunions and so forth.
Or, you might try a Google search on your former unit name. We found quite a bit about my father-in-law's WWII Bomb Group just by a simple web search on the name. Still searching for mine, tho. Let me know if you run across anything about the 375th Mess Kit Repair Battalion.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXX
Jim, I have already done that, it is the first place I started, I have my unit and everything listed as well as me, this way anyone looking would find me even if they just searched the unit, base, time frame. I did a search for Jim and it lists 3 but the problem is no contact info or anyway of making contacting. I did add them to my buddies list so if they ever sign on to military.com it would ping me.
Maybe this is something that you should do as well with your info, unit, time and such.
