Yes, sweeps, Dad called the "Seek and Destroy" patrols. Did you ever know a Capt. Cooper, now retired General?
I have a couple of pics of one of the Christmas shows. The 25th infantry lays Home in Hawaii. Mele Kalikimaka is Merry Christmas in Hawaiian. Here they are. I believe one is Phyllis Diller?

New construction.
The Arizona Memorial parkland and museams, are scheduled to be rebuilt, since the parkland has sunk about 3 feet in the last few years.
Please support that endeavor, with whatever financial donations you can make.
It's a huge part of our history, that we should never forget.
I will be visiting the memorial again, November 16th, 2008, to once again, offer my families support.
When I return, I will post an update on the new construction, along with some photo's.
Andy

You are correct Andy. What a wonderful display of history. I was stationed there in 89-93 and never went to visit. My wife and I went for Honeymoon this year, we did visit the memorial. I don't think anything has ever "MOVED" me like stepping onto the memorial during the visit. We had the headphone tour and was like in another world. Here are a couple of pics. They had a couple of survivors signing books too.

These folks look familiar? It was quite a show.
This Saturday, go find a veteran and buy him/her a beer!

Maybe you had to be there...
Whether or not you were "there" you should like this. It's acoustic and I make a point of listening to it every Veterans Day.

844th Combat Heavy Engineers/20th Airborne Div./ Desert Storm
Here's a few pics, in the group pic in front of sign I'm the one up front on the right. The other is my buddy at sundown in Iraq. The one with the smoking barrel is my buddy burning sh#t while we were on latrine duty. The one with notepad and #9 is me on day 9 of an incursion into Iraq and also 9 days without a bath. I've got a pic somewhere with a 13 on the pad, man did I ever stink. Got me a good whor... uhhh I mean sponge bath on day 14.

One more. This was me trying to relax during a much needed break, I even took off my helmet and BDU top and I almost forgot that danged heavy flak jacket, which was a very rare opportunity. You can click on pic to enlarge.

I was lucky enough to be in Hawaii for a few weels in 67,68,69 and again in 70 on the Hancock a attack carrier in route to the Tonkin Gulf.
The Memorial to the Arizona was the highlight every time.
Take care

Wear your ribbons on Veterans Day
Thanks for keeping this topic alive.
And thanks to all who have served.
I have often wished we could get our Vets to start wearing their ribbons on Veterans Day. One or two or all of them as you choose.
Be you a farmer, carpenter, lawyer, teacher, etc,etc wear your ribbons to let the folks around you know that you are one of those who served.

Thank to all of our vets.
As for the ribbon suggestion, all of mine are sitting in a box somewhere. Maybe next year....
