Does this look to good to be true?

HI - just saw this and wondering why it appears to be priced so low? Am first time buyer, so not sure what could drive someone to price it so low?

Peter, that looks legitimate - all the photos show it's in great condition. DesMoines, IA isn't that far from you in case you want to go see it.

Perhaps they really want to sell quickly and don't want to hold out for top dollar? What's the estimated value for that year and model?

Good luck!

I would say do you due diligence. This looks to be way under market price. Major red flag.

Hi Jeff, comparable 2022s I see between $70k and $80k listed - problematic given who knows what they sell for in the end, so this would be considerably below. They are the 2nd owner, bought new from a person who could not use it due to an accident that happened around the time it was bought new. Has 3 solar panels from AS, I assume the 90w ones.

If I could get away from work I would head right over but the next two weeks can't get away. I guess will find out if it is legit if it sells quick, if it is still there in 3 weeks there might be an issue.

Thanks - that's the feeling I got. I'd love to take a look at it but can't get away in the next 2 weeks. We'll see if it is still available then and may invest in a professional inspector in the area. Is there a source for reliable and good inspectors?

Peter, I guess you could reach out to an AirForums volunteer inspector. There’s bound to be one in that area. They could take a look and give you their thoughts. I don’t remember how to get to the inspector list on the forums. But if interested, ask and someone will post the instructions on how to get to the list. Good luck

Why not call and ask the seller why they chose the price they did? Might be someone selling for parents, and just want it gone. Might be someone made a mistake and bought the wrong RV. Might be a scam. Talk to them and make sure your BS meter is on. Don't say anything about the price being too low or too high.

Sometimes a seller just wants it gone and doesn't want to negotiate the price, so they set a low, but still reasonable, price and stick to it.

On the left side of the banner, click the Portal tab. Then scroll down the right margin to search Airstream Inspectors. Good luck!!!

Take a day off …go see it personally …Right-Away. It may simply be someone who wants to get their money back…or a divorce…or ..?? But if it’s real…it’ll be gone before the 2 weeks you’ve mentioned. I doubt if it’ll be there in only a week.

List on a new 23FB Flying Cloud is $96,400. If people can get 20% off these days, actual selling price for a new one is about $77,000.

The advertised price represents about $13,000 off for a 2 year old trailer. It may just be an owner wanting to sell and being very realistic about what it’s really worth. Perhaps a dealer offered them something like $55 to $60k.

Pre-purchase inspection

Peter, if you can't get to the unit, there's a reputable pre-purchase inspection service offered by a member of our Wisconsin-UP unit.

Steve Prouty has an Airstream renovation company and now offering newer AS services and inspections.

You may want to give him a call and see what they can do.

Yes, I'd ask. I'm sure though they know what others are going for. It doesn't take much to do a search.

Also, if you can't get away to go look at it, ask if they can do a video tour. We did that with buyers of our dearly departed Bambi and it not only gave them some comfort level with their purchase, but you can also measure up who you are dealing with and get a feel for whether they are legitimate or not.

One other thing, it might be a bargain, but is it the trailer you really want? For example, I'm all about a good deal, but then we really like the twin beds and maybe for $13k I'd put up with the queen, however if it was our "forever camper" I'm not so sure.

Yes, i had talked to them re. another trailer but they are very busy and only do inspections within 100miles of the shop unfortunately.

Ah, good to know Peter. I wasn’t sure how far they’d travel.

Hopefully you can find someone local willing to check it out for you.

Can you reserve it with a down payment, then hire a professional inspection to give you a report? I did this while looking at a trailer out of town. I did this arrangement while hunting for our trailer only to have the seller call me back after first agreeing to having it inspected. I figured he ended up not wanting professional eyes on it. Anyway, the $750 report by a certified inspector I found through the RVTA I thought was well worth it.
Good luck! But if you want it, don't wait 3 weeks. Make it happen! See ya on the road.

Why don’t you simply ask the seller why they’re selling for so cheap !!

Peter- A trick I have used to determine legitimacy is to ask for a specific picture of the trailer such as the underside tanks, a picture of under the sink or bathroom. Things people usually don't post to begin with. If it is legit, they can go out to the trailer and take the picture if you have given them a reason to ( I would really like to make a purchase this week, etc.) If it is not legit, you will get an answer like, "It is in another state right now, or I am traveling and cant get that done, or no answer at all. Then you can be confident in walking away.

I bought the same model but a 2019 for that price $63,000. If that is legit and that’s the price that’s a great deal. Especially with all the bonuses such as awnings, etc..

between the lines it sounds they bought a cabin and assume they need the cash quick but wanted to ask more in a video call they wanted to schedule because the unit is in storage, had not heard back for several days until I told them that I found another trailer and we don't need to schedule a call. But yeah, was wondering why i did not hear back for almost a week.

Good deal

Call them and talk about options, any extended warranty, exterior coating, selling with hitch, hoses. Just talk with them to see if they are normal.
Prices are down, take advantage of it
