AS in the movies

AS's sometimes appear in movies-- I found one of interest, "legally blonde"2001. Elle( Reese Witherspoon) and Paulette go the a junkyard to seize her dog back from Paulettes worthless BF. He's living in what looks like a 1961 Safari( correct me ). Some good shots of the trailer, you can see the stove/oven through the door, looks like a wall heater is missing and the screen is gone from the inside door. Elle refers to it contemptuously as "this residence"
Any other appearences? I know about the custom trailer NASA used for an isolation chamber in various Apollo documentaries

Great idea for a new thread!

Video links mandatory when possible IMO.

Hit the Play button for trailer, and go to Full Screen:
https://www.amazon.com/Legally-Blond...t-video&sr=1-1

[Hit YT URL at the top for Full Screen etc. options]

More YT videos available in the notes.

Thanks again,

Peter

Check out "What's Eating Gilbert Grape".

Very early Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Quirky movie featuring an Airstream.

You will like it.

There is one in Dexter where he uses an Airstream to carve up a husband and wife serial killers. Dexter is a serial killer who kills other serial killers.

Our 1970 29' Ambassador appeared in the 2011 movie Real Steel in the first few seconds.
The movie crew rented it for 2 weeks. When I got it back it had damage to the front left
bottom aluminum and had to be repaired.Total lack of respect, I wouldn't do it again.
It was filmed in Michigan.

Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience. Our 1964 Overlander was in the Hallmark Christmas movie Fir Crazy and an episode of the police drama Flashpoint. There was slight damage from the Hallmark shoot when a crew member stood on our tongue-mounted battery box and left a dent. I wasn't that concerned as it was a box I'd built myself for about $25 in materials and they paid me about $250 for the damage. For the Flashpoint filming our kids got to go and watch on location at a nearby conservation area, met the cast and crew, and had a tour of the interior sets at the studio in Toronto. For us it was a positive experience, and the money that we got covered the initial cost of the trailer. I probably wouldn't have done it with a fully restored trailer.

Charlie

In the first Charlie's Angels remake with Cameron Diaz, Lucy Lu and Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu lives in an airstream on a movie studio lot with Matt Leblanc. They have parked it in front of a fake backdrop of Monjment Valley - so classic! In this clip you can see the Airstream at about 1:00.

Exactly...

'Airstreams in the Movies...' (8/23/2002 posted in AirForum's infancy)

But a lot of movies (and posts!) w/Airstreams have come out since then ~ nice to re-visit some of the oldies.

Tom Hanks Airstream for sale

While not “in the movies”, Tom Hanks used a 1992 34’ Limited Excella to live in on set while filming movies.

It’s going up for auction in August complete with memorabilia inside.

Yes, and he loved that AS so much he bought it and another one as well. Both custom from Timeless Travel. He's our "neighbor" where we store our AS, so fun to see the original from the movie!!

As I recall there’s an airstream in the movie “Independence Day”, the fictional residence of the guy that shoots down one of the flying saucers.

And I believe an airstream is also featured in the classic Coen brothers flick “Raising Arizona”

I Think we all need to admit Peter knows this forum far better than most of us for sure and has the time to lead us all to useful information.

Yup. One of my first on-screen credits on that one (as Dolby Stereo Consultant). Another piece of the puzzle that led me to Airstream ownership. Leonardo looks like he's 10 yrs old in WEGG. - Brad

If you like horror movies watch “The hills have eyes”. Renovated 88 airstream. Not for the fair at heart!
