As many threads do drift to another subject, I will try to keep it on track. First, if I had my 27FB from 2009, I might wait for the Classic. In joking with my dealer, once the 2015 Serenity arrived, I suggested we begin discussions on trading for the Classic when it is available. LOLi

There are many trim changes which can be made to bring the Serenity into more of the "motorhome" look of the Classics interior and some of these I will be doing in mine. The window shades can have a nice valence which covers three sides so as to prevent anyone from seeing in at the edges of the shades at nighttime.

As to the ducted A/C, it is nice, but not a reason to trade. I am not a " camper" but simply enjoy having my own "room, kitchen, and bed" when I travel. And the Airstream does this better than any other trailer IMO, and for what want to do during my travels.

The temperature inside the trailer can be as high as 80 degrees and comfortable if humidity is low as well. A supplemental fan makes a big difference.

Very nice trailer! I went inside the number 1 model at the Gillette rally. Beautiful trailer. The ducted air was so nice and quiet!
I also love the panoramic windows in the bedroom.

We have spent four days and nights in our 2015. The ducted air is a dramatic improvement...not only in significant noise reduction but alao in evening out the temperature within the trailer. It is well worth your considetation!!!

Cherry stain on some wood like alder, not cherry wood.

Hickory cabinets in prior year Classics had solid Hickory, not a stain.

The bathroom layout and wardrobe look a little different in the 2015. The dinette booth is shifted more toward the front of the trailer and the "credenza" is gone.
I guess the wardrobe had to be made larger to make up for the loss of cabinet space due to the panoramic rear window.
I can't wait to walk through a new Classic.

Either way, it is beautiful, never been a fan of the hickory look. Every one has different tastes in what they like.

I like the lighter colors, they make the trailer feel larger inside. Not too light, though, or else between the light colors and white curtains, you feel like you are inside a coffin. I'm sure the Classic will be available with some lighter colored stuff inside, that may take away the darkness of the cherry wood.

They made the new Classic brighter and more airy by adding windows and removing cabinets-

Ducted Air

"We like hot summer camping if we have access to swimming - just stay in water!!

And escape back to trailer for food - naps - and sleeping"

Well Pharmgeek. just do what I do, fill the shower stall and let it overfill into the floor. You can wade around in the trailer and not even have to walk to the pool!

I did that once while (re)calibrating the micropulse tank indicators. Had the garden hose in the shower then went outside to turn it on full blast to fill the gray take. Came back in to find the hose whipped out of the shower and was pouring water in the hallway.

Seems to have wandered well off topic.
I'd like to hear from others that now have 2015s with ducted air ...

A little off topic, but my '14 came with the Sea Level monitor. Now I understand why the technician commented on having less experience with these units when we were going through a list of questions and minor adjustments with him at our factory service visit.

I wonder if that is because ours was built in May '14 that we might have some of the newer components (but not the ducted air!)

A cool thank you goes out to Airstream from South Louisiana! (2) A/C’s ducted and whisper quite. (I know because I have heard them run, don’t care about db’s it is silent for the most part and I like!). I am ready! Trading up from our 2011 25fb International Serenity, I truly believe that the original Penguin Low Profile Heat Pumps were designed with the big motor coaches in mind with ducted multi-units installed and I am thinking that Airstream like the low profile design, so Airstream got it with it’s not functional, non-ducted shroud. However it does work great if you are cooking, but if you like most, we spend most of your time at the very rear or the very front of the Airstream. The non-ducted unit operation as described by the experts at Jackson Center was not to close the main down vent as it cause the unit to malfunction. (almost no air comes out of the front/rear vents) So in reality and normal use all the air goes diving down to the center floor of the cabin and flows back up to the return air. (this does not condition the most of the volume of air) We placed a Dyson fan right below the unit and aimed it in the derection of were we were at the time, the front or the back, this helped a great deal. As well as tinted the most of the windows with limo tint and used the silver bubble insulation in the skylight, fantastic fans, overhead windows and bedroom windows (so we could sleep a little past sunrise). This helped! Also had the magnetic solar shades for the rear window and rear curved windows as recommend by the Airstream specialist. The older Airstreams I have been in do a great job of pushing the air way in the front and way in the rear…. the high profile unit was originally designed for non-ducting with a very functional hi efficient shroud, it did a great job … before the “Penguin”.

Our new 27fb is scheduled for production to start on Oct 1st, ready for release by 8th of Oct. Our local dealer, Foley RV Center in Gulfport MS, was great to work with on the special order, inquired it about and the next day placed it on order. The sales staff was very knowledgeable with all the options and availability.

27fb International Serenity 2015
Salsa UntraLeather
IN 27JWBFB Queen Frt Wall
1000w Inverter - Queen Bed Models
3 Burner w/Convec M/W
Solar Charging System
2nd AC Install-27FB INT
Window Awning PKG - 27FB Ser
Comfort Convenience Pkg-TT
Custom Special Order - Do not mount TV’s and do not Mount block of wood on main cabin wall. (I plan on using a 32” LED for the Main cabin with a swing out arm) I will use the std 28” main cabin tv in the bedroom and the std bedroom tv for e-bay.
I will NOT order the power awning, as I can deploy the std manual awning in just 2 minutes or less, it helps me keep fit and keeps me moving, so I am fine with it.
After Market options
Tint all windows and skylight with 50%
This 2015 style has all curtains in the bedroom, I will remove them and send them to the sewing room and have a metallic solar shield sewed on the back side, with the tinted windows you will not be able to see this from the exterior and will provide a dark cool bedroom, for deep sleeping, so we can wake up ready for the next day of fun! and if the front is shaded or winter we will open the curtains.
TempurPedic 60X80 Queen Cloud Elite mattress with head up mechanism for reading, laptop and watching TV.
I plan on replacing the counter in the bath with a Corian top with a large above counter vessel and large spout, this helps when boondocking, for quick cleanups.
I am looking into placing a piece of wilsonart board across the rear and have cushion made with the same ultra leather to form a rear sectional, ditch the dinette. May have a small table that could be installed in the floor like the Eddie Bauer.
I will also change all the compartments and covers on the exterior to stainless steel.

But most of all… 2 A/C’s and Ducted…. all whisper quite…. In the main cabin will be a 15K and the front will have a 13.5K, they will use the same ducting so when both are running we should have lots of ice cold air distributed across the cabin. I think AS should have installed operational vents, but they do pop off ez so I will make a closure for them on the top side where you cannot see to adjust to our comfort style throughout the cabin.

It's truly an Art to keep cool when camping...

Congrats on your purchase, it sounds great! We also bought our 2015 25FB Flying Cloud from Foley RV. Great people! We love the quiet of our new ducted air. Our last AS was 2013 International and the air was very loud.
Enjoy!

Sounds wonderful! Just curious - I did not know you could order a Tempurpedic bed for the Airstream. Do you mind telling me about what the extra was? I would love having something where the head would raise as well for reading, etc. We have a tempurpedic at home and love it!

This is listed as one of the things that I'll do after I take delivery. I've had a mattress store for the last 32 years and I'm a Tempur-pedic elite retailer in Louisiana. So I'll use the standard size queen Tempur-pedic mattress it's great in the 25 FB also the 27. I will use the Tempur-up foundation take it apart and just use the mechanism on the 27 FB
