We found them on clearance at the local Lowe's... we liked that it wasn't the ordinary plug cover...

fyi - those covers are aluminum so if you wanted, you can strip the paint and polish.

good evening guys... I hope all had a great weekend.

Well, only got to put in a day and a half this weekend but progress was made towards getting the AS trip worthy by the end of October. I am going to make this happen.

Got all the belly pan back on from the axles forward. Part of this was new aluminum that I pick up for free when I went to my local metal dealer. I am happy with the results for the most part. Could it be better, YES... am I going to make and issue of it's non-perfect status, NO.

I patched a bunch of holes next to the door, which I think is better than simply plugging them with rivets...

I also, finally permanently installed the wing windows and the small oval window next to the door...

I installed a new trailer to tow vehicle plug on the front of the trailer and added two more rows of rivets..

Jenn has been hard at work restoring window... she is beginning to be a master at window seal. she has also reworked all the screens, installed new window prop positioners in all the frames, and reworked the screen door...it looks GREAT.

I brought all the leveling jacks home with me so I can rework those this week...

More to come soon...

does anyone reproduce the molded plastic pieces that go around the frame to hide the gaps between the body and frame?

I am not aware of those 2 frame closeout pieces being available, anywhere.

A nice bead of Vulkem sealer will make that seam look great.

Always impressed with your work, MJM! Where did you find the positioners? Are they still available off the shelf or did they come out of the Sovereign? I've got a couple that are broken and need to be replaced in our '73 -- what's screwed into the frames is still there but the broken-off pieces are gone now. I'm guessing those are similar if not identical to those used in '73, maybe Andy could enlighten.

Best,

'Berg

hub Cap questions....

so i think our wheels are the 15" 6 lug variety....our goal is to clean these up and get hubcaps for them....do they need the "baby moons" with the 7 3/4" width as seen on mikeshubcaps.com? i think our wheels look just like their example and a local seller has 4 for sale so i want to make sure i'm clear on what we need...i'm meeting the seller tomorrow with tape measure in hand so any help is greatly appreciated

i've looked through several threads on the forum, including

Made some progress this weekend on the AS. In all with time taken out to spend time with family, it wasn't too bad. I have been really paranoid after putting in the wing window, so I made a rock guard. picked up a metal break from Tractor Supply, and with an air nibble, buck riveter and the aluminum I picked up a few months back...

I also worked on the rear bumper storage area so that I can start to keep critters out of the tank area... although it's not finished heres where that stands.

Wow, that rock guard is an impressive looking piece. Nice work. I'd love to see more pics of how you fabricated that.
