i'll try to contain myself, while difficult, day one should be a breeze... between you and the str8's, bail, by the time we hit new mexico, should be doable...

as an aside, i have your favorite red beverage in large supply... and properly chilled. bring your best glassware... i want you to feel right at home...

let's all try and fuel up in Barstow tuesday B4 Calico, so we can make a mad dash for Wiliiams early the next morning. my ETA 12 - 1pm.

what is any or everyones pref for lunch on wednesday? any special spot or place? shall we picnic in route? just throwing that out... don't wanna over plan or anything...

Want to come to Balloon Fiesta but no reservations?

So you wanted to come to the Balloon Fiesta but you procrastinated and did not get reservations?

Not sure you wanted to tow your Airstream that far?

Here is an option!

Okay. If I leave the Central Coast in the morning say nine-ish, I should be in Barstow by 10:15 or so...

Haven't met Virgil and Sheila yet but they could be one of the 6 airstreams that parked behind us during the day when we were doing downtown Santa Fe. When's the potluck again?

We got the truck fixed, and serviced to boot. We are good to go. We are in Gallup now, and wil daytrip backwards to Petrified Forest tomorrow. Then will arrive in Grants a day early (Wed).

If you see a red Chevy pickup (without an AS behind) link its lights at you, that's us.

We plan to collect a nice sample of petrified wood from the park to add to Kevbo's collection of looted Indian artifacts. Sort a show-and-don't-tell.

other than that, most anything goes...

kevbo

Paid pillager

So, how long do I have to stay in uniform and guard the ruins?...the broom is loaded, and I have extra clips, just warnin' you...The nations provide me with a backup uniform and special driving privileges.
Having said all that, what size burlap bag will I need for ABQ(we will be pillaging and looting there, too, won't we?

mr irony,

the pilage 'n loot, meet 'n greet is on... (bring ur own burlap)

caution:

please note, my best friend anna prying an overly zealous rallier whom made contact with the neighboors tree whilst flying at night after performing the coveted and most sacred Peyote dance after our ah... ranch pot luck... (we wern't splitting loot, honest).

so i guess, don't do the coveted Peyote dance and fly at night; however pot luck splitting is kool... at least that's what i got out of it...

by the by, the tree huggers were pissed. do you have any idea the damage that can be done whilst doing 60mph on a broom? what a mess; took anna an hour to pry her off... kept the broom for good luck...

Off to Gallup

We are leaving Williams and heading to Gallup to the USA RV park. Maybe we will see PMCLEMOREs red truck. It was 44 degrees here this am. Our stay at Railside RV park was nice. They drove us to the RR station to go to the Grand Canyon and walked our dogs every 2 hours and they have cable, free WiFi and a continentil breakfast. Very nice folks. Debbie

USA RV park in Gallup? I would not go near that place. From posts I have read, the owner will toss you in a heartbeat if your dogs wet the ground anywhere except the dog area. You are supposed to transport them to the dog area and not let them walk to it. I have read dozens of reviews of the place and all are the same.

Here's the scam on that.

You cannot pick up any pieces of petrified wood in the park at all. They are very serious about this. You can however buy bags of the stuff from many "trading posts" and the park even sells it. You just can't pick it up for free.

Last time there I had my girlfriend chat with the on guard Ranger while I palmed some some prohibited free petrified wood.

Good practice for your scheduled artifact looting.

Should be Saturday...evening-ish...not sure what time...I think happy hour starts at 3 or 4 am, although it may carry over from Friday at camping whirled...we should be easy to find...look for all the emergency vehicle lights, SWAT vans, BIA officials, and circling news helicopters on the other side of a big pile of burlap bags...we'll be the ones under the EZ UP, watching multicolored flames in the unlicensed fire-pit...there may be some weird, ceremonial-type dancing, and there will be lots of animals...rumor has it that there will be a couple of hot air balloons next door.
Look for the flamingo between the rainbows.

Did I miss anything...?
