Kevin, Gail and I were intending to stay somewhere in the Mojave Desert and meet you along route 66 but now may try to meet at Barstow. Where are you staying Tuesday night and when will you be heading east Wednesday morning?

Uh...are there many Highway Patrol officers and other local law enforcement types patrolling the byways in those parts for say, um...speeders?

That is a bit nippy at night for us CA types.
Better pack a jacket or two
and an extra heater.
Is there room for a small fire pit?
Any "laws" preventing such things?
