Mis-wired

While I do not have the same trailer or original converter/charger you had, I did replace the Parallax converter/charger in my trailer with a Progressive Dynamics unit.

I believe you have mis-wired your new installation. In my Airstream, there is a 6AWG wire that runs from the batteries thru the disconnect switch relay to the low voltage fuse block and terminates on the center lug of the fuse block. The POS wire from the converter/charger should terminate on a separate lug on the low voltage fuse block. If you have both of them on the same lug, you in effect over ride the disconnect switch.

Check your low voltage fuse block. While I am unsure yours and mine are the same, there are three lugs ... the one on the left is not used, the center lug connects to the converter/charger. The right lug connects to the battery via the battery disconnect switch.

As a note the negative from the batteries and the converter charger should land on a terminal block reserved for negative wires. This is not the same as the neutral bar in the power section.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the reply. I’m wondering if I could send you a few photos of my old set-up and new to compare? If so, I can email or text them to you. Let me know if you’d be willing to take a look
