The views just a few steps from our Airstream door while camp hosting at Snow Canyon State Park, Utah. Fortunately a working furnace in the morning warms up the trailer within ten minutes as we wait for the sun to slide up the canyon walls.

I haven't camped in a snow storm, we had a huge hail storm in the Black Hills one time. I guess you don't want to leave your awning out if snow is in the forecast.. For sure. Neat pics. Only camped a week or so in UT. We really need to get back there.

Yeah... They were told "go West young man!"

They did till Colorado and stooped saying "Woooow man! Look at all they SNOW!!!" And they stayed.

If that doesn't make sense it's ok... Most of don't remember those times too good...

Wolfs Neck (aka Recompense) would get my vote Steve! You would probably have to do it late in the season and it is dry camping but it is one of our favorites!

Nice picture. Makes me happy that the "who hates campfires" thread is dead.

The trick to a successful campfire is heat!
I tend to love a roaring fire, that's what we try for. Sometimes it is difficult to achieve with the wet wood many camp sites sell but it can be done!
I find airflow (the correct building technique) and volume help to get it done. Then you have a fire worthy of the effort...

It's three degrees here this morning. These pics are reminding me what I have to look forward to.

The key to a successful campfire is rain. We saw roaring fires with embers flying everywhere when we were East. In the West those fires would have leveled miles of forest and kept the fire crews in work for months. Many of the folks we saw in Yellowstone this year were there to escape the fires in Washington and Oregon, so our sensitivity was overheated. We finally calmed down enough to enjoy the wonderful campfire of another AS owner. It was a great experience and one we normally do not have. It rained here last night and we are seeing snow in the Sierras. Maybe if this weather system keeps coming we can have a little fire. Pat

The things you learn here...
Glad you enjoyed the "controlled" campfire! I'll remember this when we head west...

Although it's in the low 40s here in central Florida, still much warmer than back home. Even lower tonight, maybe the 30s but we're still enjoying being snow birds for our second year, going up into the 60s today. We're again at Hillsboro River S.P., Thonotosassa, FL.
