We were camping outside of Joshua Tree on BLM land. We filled up at the Cottonwood Canyon Campground inside the park and dumped there too. I carry four 5.5g jerry cans as well.

In town there are two places to get water. Recycling and trash. Not sure of a dump station, but I can go about 14-18 days on the black tank, depending if I do #1 outside or not. And gray water, well it goes on the ground.

There is a dump station at the Borrego Palm Canyon Campground in the State Park just west of town. There is also a dump station at the Arco Station on the corner of Hwy S22 and Hwy 86 at Salton City. The Springs at Borrego RV Resort also has a dump station and I think they will let you use it, but you may want to call them. It's the closest to you. I don't know what fee any of these places charge. Enjoy!

Yes Mike it is. My father is doing better, and both my parents wanted to go camping so here we are. He still gets very tired quickly but I can take him home if he gets ready, it's only a few hours to their home.

Not quite from the door, but from a hike nearby...Grand Tetons.

Have been to the Grand Tetons National Park many times in the 90s. Usually around the July 4 time period and the snow was still on the ground. Always enjoyed the hikes that started on the far side of Jenny Lake and went up into the mountains.

We had a close encounter with a young Black bear cub which ran past us and climbed up a tree about 15 feet away. We did not linger in case the mother was around. All concerned were definitely startles by the experience.

We came down off of an icy hill into the woods and we were about fifteen feet away from a bull Moose that was resting in the shade with a few small bushes between it and us. We just kept moving downhill.

Those hikes are likely the best way to enjoy the Tetons. Just driving by is a great view, but not really the heart of the park. A significant difference from Yellowstone, where you do experience a bit more of the park on a drive through. Thanks for sharing your bear and moose experience. Pat
