Vernon, what is that in the last shot, sitting in the drum? A cleco, and a rivet?

How in blazes would they get inside the drum?

Those objects, my fine friend, are the twisted remains of the brake adjuster. This is what happens when the lower spring fails in a lightly loaded 'stream.

The Clecos are actively involved in trying to sell an unsolicited story to The Enquirer...

More interior skins. I'm trying to do at least one area per night but it's COLD!

I'm installed all the way to the front axle...guess I gotta finish the prep and install that danged front cap now.

It's so nice working with NEW stuff...romex, boxes...although I'm sure this mess of wire is more than the entire original 1963 system

gotta remember to install the AC drain hose y'all!

WOW Vernon! Looking GREAT! I'm curious are you reusing the old holes in the ribs for the rivets or just drilling all new? You are really rolling along and I love all the new metal

New skins, new holes...I'm marking a 2" pattern on all of the skin to rib lines and a 7" pattern on the horizontal joints. The old pattern was... um...random.

I'm really gonna hate to apply paint over all of that new aluminum!!!!

Definition of the finest A/S:

- mouse free

- leak free

The paint will, IMO, make it useful and more attractive. Just not the institutional pea green you're trying to get past your wife, eh?

P.S... I thought your axles were new? I was just wondering why the brake adjuster spring broke on you.

Nah, this trailer has the original axles...that will be one of the last things to buy.

EVERYONE who has looked inside has told me not to paint...peer pressure is mounting!!!

More skins cut today, the only 4 remaining ones are 2 ceiling panels and the 2 front corners. I didn't rivet any because I'm out of Prodex

I guess reflectix is gonna finish me out...I really don't want to vight the Christmas crowds but it's off to the Big-Box-store...

I completed the last bit of paint strippin on the front cap, it should go back in tomorrow.

What tool are you using to cut the panels.. your edges look nice and straight. Is it warmer in the trailer vs. outside with the Prodex?

What kind of boxes did you use for your electric? I have the ones from VTS, but my DH says the plastic ones from the big boxes are easier to use. Is that what you used?

Lookin' great HiHo! I also vote for keeping the aluminum finish. I think you should clear coat it with glisten PC.

Paint is far easier to live with. I'd not ever NOT consider it. Having worked once for a contractor specializing in ZOLATONE I remain forever impressed by that coating. If I wanted to live inside a beer can I'da never stopped drinking.

I would LOVE to do Zolatone but WOW that stuff is expensive!

Yup, those are the low profile ones from HomeDepot. I would like to find some double size low profile ones also.

I'm using a handheld pneumatic shear from Harbor Freight, it ain't the best one but it seems to get the job done. It doesnt leave the tick marks that I make using snips. I would LOVE to have a 4' shear!
Yes, even a single layer and no interior skins is warmer. I used a single cube heater to stay warm al the wway down to 35 degrees last weekend

Well, Mouse and smell free is a start...pea green? that is the color Mrs. HiHo will turn when I tell her I'm gonna paint it ANY color...

I did get the front endcap installed. Prodex on the end cap, prodex in the shell makes for a double layer. I use a temp support under the front window to support the cap while I lined stuff up. It was a bit tougher than the rear because it's so much heaver. All of the holes lined right up...

Front corner skins cut...

I have a PILE of old aluminum in the yard...a DIY Airstream?

Just want to say thanks so much for posting this great info! You do wonderful work. We are reading with keen interest as we plan to do similar gut and rebuild of a 59 TradeWind. So many tasks and details to think through.
It looks like you created a sequence of work list. Would you mind sharing it?
Question--did I miss the grey tank attachment, or are those secret gems yet to come? And where is the fresh water tank--inside above floor?

The list you see is specific to this trailer and my whacky way of doin stuff, mainly items and a sequence I plan on working thru. I add little stuff so I don't forget, it has evolved to a spreadsheet from it's early iteration on an old piece of foam

. One thing I try to do is list little stuff that can be done in the dark evenings seperate from the big stuff that takes sunshine. When it's nice weather, I make myself work on the sunshine list.

I add stuff as I think of it, then erase items when they are complete. I'm gussin when the spreadsheet is empty, I must be finished!

You haven't missed anything on the gray tank, it's propped up on the back of my garage. I have to cut a hole thru the floor for the vent and sequence a bunch of PVC pipes in the proper order so I don't glue myself into a corner. All of that will happen when I install the tub/drain plumbing (another set of skills that I completely stink at)

Does the Ag part imply you're in farming?
From what I've seen in this thread, there doesn't seem to be a set of skills that you "completely stink at", everything looks so nicely done and well thought out.

Nope, no farming..AG is the chemical symbol for Silver...Hi Ho Silver RV...I had to pick "RV" instead of "TT" for travel trailer...Hi Ho Silver TT sounded like a bladder infection...
