That must be the definition of a succesful restoration...when a person avoids giving away the trailer as you mention...

Airforums ups the chances of an average Joe actually completing the job...Thank you to everyone out there!

Tomorrow...adding a hatch to cover up some 'ugly'

Hatches? Hatches? we don't need no stinkin' Hatches! Actually...we do need a hatch to cover the honkin ugly vent/dent...

Photo 1 and 2...ugly...

Photo 3 not many folks get the chance to take a pair of snips to the sidewall of their 'stream...50 year old aluminum cuts really, really nice!

Last photo...I think the hinge will be at the bottom...

What is the purpose? All of the AVI connections will reside behind the hatch...including a TV mount point...or thats' todays plan...

Progress on the AVI hatch...

With no sealer or aluminum hinge, I can only go so far...

I've gotta wait for the hinge to complete the final bottom "Z" bracket but here's how she will look!

I know, I know...your thinking the door is gonna hit it...not really, it will open all the way down once the cleco's are removed...

Now...what else needs to go on the interior panel? A bracket to hold the TV arm, 12V, 110V, cable, and ???

Well you've got the taps and the keg figured out, now all you need to do is plan how to keep it chilled. It would be way cool to have draft on tap at the entertainment center. Talk about a tailgate party!

That is a GOOD question...I'm thinking of making a washer out of rubber sheet - the kind used for roof's- and sliding the wire thru a small hole in the center. Then vulcum the entire washer over the hole and seal the wire...rivit on the lamp.

I'm not 100% on that soultion, but it's all that comes to mind right now!

Yesterday we had the first real rain in months...I have a MONSTER leak at the forward skylight.

Nuttin is gonna get fixed until I can get some Vulcum...Fastenal is draggin out my order!

Fastenal's description of the grommet is a bit off base...the 1/8 dimension isn't the hole size, it's the width of the slot ...the hole is 3/8. It does make sense to put something in there to keep the wires from fraying, even though the wires I just removed seemed fine after almost 50 years. My delima is I really don't want to plug the hole so tightly that I can snake out the wire if needed.

On another Fastenal item...they still show Tempro 636 on their catalog...but none is available...HOWEVER 635 IS available!

A case of 635 is on it's way, along with some hinge material and I just got notice that my $300 of Prodex Insulation will arrive tomorrow.

Prodex is here...

I'm doing two layers...1 attached to the outer shell, the other will be touching the inner wall...wiring will be in the 1" airspace between the layers.

This stuff is pretty easy to install except for 2 things...I hate spray glue...and Airstreams random spacing of the ribs, they are not even square to each other.

What are you using for the spray glue? Great progress, looking really nice! Did you change anything with the electrical or go with the original plan?

I'm using some 3m version from Home Depot for the glue...sticks like crazy after a few seconds so ya' cant lolly-gag around...

Electrical...well...I chunked all of the original and started from scratch. Some of the blue tape marks where I plan on the outlets and splice boxes. A few will end up where the originals were. I plan on replacing all of the interior skins so moving an outlet location is really easy. My color scheme...yellow is a fused, full time hot. I have 6 branches that will all tie to a new marine grade fuse block.

The biggest change is I'm deleting all of the 110V lighting...12V all the way thru

3M Spray 77 as made famous in the Blues Brothers movie? (Also affectionately known as "Gorilla Snot").
