HI there! It has been almost a year since we last connected. My GT is now in the shop. The next step is my Hehr windows. The frames are at the glass shop awaiting the order. I bought all new parts, cranks, all I need. Did you have a post on how you rebuilt with photos? I want to think you did.

    Wishing you a great 2016.

    Becky,

I see that Dan asked I very good question ("planning a total reno... checklist that describes the sequence of tasks that worked or would have worked best to get started") I'm searching for our first vintage Airstream to renovate. Being brand new here, I'm not sure why he asked you, but I'll bet that he had a good reason :-) Did he get an answer from you or someone else on the forum? I'm good with wood, but am nervous about the metal work :-/

    Thanks,
    Caroyl

    Becky,

I just bought my first AS and am in the process planning a total reno. I have some family and friends that are going to help me with more of the trades than my skills will allow, but I was wondering if you have a checklist that describes the sequence of tasks that worked or would have worked best to get started.

    Thank you,
    Dan

Becky - Have no idea where we are on this project? I'd still like to have one of your sister's creations, so please let me know the details - Is she still willing to make one for me, is the $65 still her price & +/- when she thinks she can finish making one. I love her creativity!! Thanks - Jim
PS - If she has changed her mind & now does not want to make one for me, that is NO problem, I'd certainly understand.

Thanks, Jim. I'll let her know. She will need to know the distance between the posts that stick up on the top of your stove cover. Measure how far from the edges they are too. Please measure the size of the stove cover itself as well. The measurements for the ones she previously made were from a 1986 stove, so I'm not sure if it would be the same for your '54.

My sister doesn't own an Airstream. She has a motorhome (on a Mercedes chassis....just like the new Airstream ones, but it's a Winnebego). She's afraid to pull anything! I have to take credit for the idea of the stove protector, but she's a sewing/quilting genius! When you say "muted red" do you mean more of a burgundy color? Maybe you could snap a picture & send it to me. My email is: bbultema@sbcglobal.net

    We'll be in touch!

I'd be more than happy to pay your sister. That's a very fair price for what is probably a time consuming hobby. I'd also want to pay the postage costs, so when this beauty is finished, let me know the total all in cost & I'll be more than happy to mail a check to whatever address you give me.

Does your sister also own an AS? If not, where does her inspiration come from? Sure wish I had some (any) creative talent . . .

So many thanks to you for asking, tons of thanks to your sweet sister also.

Hugs to you both - Jim

From an old thread re quilting - if your sister-in-law has ever expressed a willingness to make another Airstream-theme stove top cover - I'd sure be interested, as long as I don't have to sell the house to pay for it. :-) Am serious - that would be cool to add some style to the interior of my13-panel '54 Cruiser. If any interest, the interior colors are primarily muted reds & royal blue's. Any chance here?
    Thanks - Jim

Becky- what are you going to do with your original Bambi II light fixtures and such? Looks like you are straying from stock...I probably won't. If you are going to toss them or are willing to sell, please let me know. I am interested in them for spares.

You are surely doing great work! I have three weeks off before my next doctoral class starts, so hopefully I will make some progress on Bambi II #2.
