Good to hear from you. The waves are actually the casing that wraps around the awning fabric when it is rolled up. It's a really nice feature of these awnings.

You should really pull the entire belly pan down for a couple reasons - first you will need the access to replace the floor and second you will need the access to inspect and repair any frame damage....

Hard to tell. Could have been a design flaw, but since it is not a consistent problem in similar trailers with the same design who knows. Maybe it hit a curb hard during a tow in the past 50 years...

Yes it is. You can get nice ones made to be used as a shock mount from Inland RV. I replaced my originals when I converted to torsion axles. They were relatively cheap.
