I would love to hear from others interested in ducted air or DA owners ...isn't that the original topic !!!

Our 2015 was finished the week of July7 and delivered the following Tuesday ... so not speculating here ... actual "in person" experience. Relative sound level readings are just one of the benefits... it is really cool without any "hot spots" as we had in both ends. The previous EB was hot in both ends and very cold right under the AC unit, itself.

Is anyone with a '15 concerned that there might be issues with the first MY of such a big change, or are you confident that AS has properly migrated the DA from the Land Yacht?

So far, our 2015 w/ ducted air looks and functions "bug-free". This revision is really only adding hidden ducting; so, I would not expect any major issues. We are confident that AS has done this right!
The only obvious external difference is a slight hump in the front and back roof line as well as the newer style "Frisbee" television antenna - the verdict is not yet in on that, however as we have not really had a chance to watch much TV in remote areas. The new antenna works well in urban camping areas.
Internally - as you would expect- the trim areas for the fantastic fans and skylight are deeper into the ceiling. One question is will their be a filter offered by AS for the intake grills or will we need to fab our own. They seem to already be collecting fuzz.

A new business opportunity will be figuring out how to clean inside the length of the "hidden" ducting without taking the ceiling down. Over time, duct work does load up with dust and debris and in damp climates, mold. Legionaire's diseae anyone?

Good point, Switz, although it should not be too large of a problem with just a 25' ... but we are already seeing fuzz collecting on the inlets. Hopefully, this is just because the unit is new and still has airborne particulate from the factory. I am sure that the flex hose from our vacuum will get in there fairly easily - but it remains to be seen just what kind of ducting is in there. If it is aluminum, it should be relatively easy. But if it is the flex hose like is used in the furnace ducting ...then that is another story.

I have absolutely no concerns for my 2015 Airstream. Ducted air has been in rv's for a long time. It is only new to Airstream. Our 2005 Gulf Stream which we had for years, had ducted air and we never had any issues. Very satisfied with our new Airstream.

Most motorhomes have ducted air and I have never heard of this problem. We had a 27' Coach House motorhome with ducted air in the ceiling for 5 years and never had any dust buildup or mold problems.

Great question on the filter. I might have to look into developing one.... Cut from inexpensive house HVAC filters, and attached internally inside the intake pipe at an angle so as to allow a 20 square inch or more area of flow..... We will see. At the moment I am suffering through a trip staying at motels, albeit one's with character.

A questions for anyone with (2) A/C units Ducted....and one fantastic fan. I have our new 2015 27FB on order and I can change the front skylight (at a custom charge) to a an additional fantastic fan... thoughts? Thinking one skylight is plenty, and 2 fans work better for that occasional quick overnight at Walmat, and boon docking at National Parks, as well as ventlating while in toe. Thank you.

Just a 25FB guy here. A skylight in the bedroom would be a waste, to me. We have a fan there and it gets a lot of use. We rarely even open the curtains in the bedroom area.

Ventilating in tow… yes, two Fantastic fans would do this better than having only one partially open. Maybe replacing the smaller skylight in the hall would work…. or modifying this to allow air flow out of the unit, but rain protected…. lots of possibility if one is an engineer…..

I would vote for the fan. Nice to have fresh air and good ventilation. Light I don't think would be a problem. You would also get some light in thru the fan opening.

They started building the 2015 models in May and quite a few dealers have non-Classic models in stock in the various trim lines and lengths.

The standard practice on our 31' Classic and most rear bedroom models is for the rear Fantastic fan to be sacrificed for the rear air conditioner. The rectangular skylight in the bathroom area would not easily convert over to a square fan. The light is really needed and the fan mechanism would block a lot of the light. The bathroom exhaust fan is in that hallway already.

I have a 27FB international with a single AC, so maybe not your target. I really like the hallway skylight. Much brighter. Friends with a Flying Cloud don't have it and it is gloomy in closet/shower/bath area. Not sure, but I guess where your second AC goes is where our second fan is located. Depends where you travel.

The fan mechanism with a shroud over it does block a lot of light. If we somehow converted the hall skylight in the bathroom area, we would be in a cave with the rear airconditioner.

The following works when the outside air is cooler than the inside. Not as quickly as the airconditioner system(s) but will operate off the standard batteries.

Like our 25FB, a 27FB has two exhaust fans (excluding the cooktop exhaust fan)- one in the shower and one in the toilet/sink area (hope it is explosion proof motor in that gaseous environment). We have a single bathroom exhaust fan. We modified the front Fantastsic fan with their reverseable switch kit so air can be blown in either direction. We turn on the Fantastic fan and bring outside air in (pressurizing if you will) and the cool air comes to the bedroom area and the ceiling heat goes out the exhaust fans.

Since our bed area is in the rear, the FB models would operate in reverse to my description.

At the factory during production of our unit on the line it's schedule for 1st of Oct to begin. The dealer checked with the factory and they came up with a $1000 charge to do away with the skylight and place a fantastic fan like in the rear in place of. Down south we have an insulated silver reflector that is almost a permanent fixture above the pleated shade in the skylight on our 25fb, and it remains their except for our annual trip to the mountains for a few weeks. We have our bedroom window tinted with 50% and place the same silver reflector between the curtains and the window, to allow temps that are tolerable during 3/4's of the year here deep down in the south.... however with the 2 A/C ducted... this will be a game changer.... so... I have advised them to put the fantastic fan in... but still have time to remove the custom order for the fan. Plan on keeping this unit for a while.... on the 27fb with windows almost most a complete 270° in the bedroom... it's hard to believe that the bath area would be gloomy.... and you use that area just for a few mins a day anyway... (The skylight would allow extreme HEAT inside the unit) 8 hours in the bedroom... weather nice outside...if not in the back ... that is why ducted a/c is so important to me... most of the time spent is the the extreme front of the unit or the extreme rear of the unit.... bath and kitchen are only temporary locations. The roof is full... A/C's, Skylight, fans, exhaust fans, vents, antennas and solar panels...
