Favorite time of year to be camping. Gorgeous day at Fox Ridge State Park in Illinois. Last trip before we head west to Colorado in a few weeks.

Hope we get some decent weather Steve. I can winterize pretty quick on the road if needed but haven't had to yet in our winter travels. We have made the trip 6-7 times over the past few years.....about half those in the winter. We've got our favorite spots to stop on US36 along the way. Gonna head further south this year, south of Pueblo, to look at some property. So we'll get to explore some new state parks down there. May go down just north of the border with New Mexico. It should be a great trip. We have quite a bit of time this year since Lynn retired 12-1-16........yeeeeeeeeeeehawwwwwww!

AWESOME!

We are not far from that mode... we are 56 and 58, and have made some basic plans for the next few years.

We can both work our Businesses from our phones these days, so we are going to shake down the Motorhome, and begin travelling to look for a place to settle, out of California!

Wow, Bob is coming to the West!

My Girl is not keen on Az, so she is pushing back on that one, due to heat, but I pointed out that Prescott, Sedona, and Kingman, has some altitude, so its cooler....
She thinks East Washington, or Oregon, Co, Or Montana. Our kids are 2 in Los Angeles, and 2 in Phoenix currently, and no grand babies yet...

Our plan is to actually spend some time in these spots at different times of the year, and then decide. Rough game plan involves selling up in CA, buying a parcel, and begin by putting down a Minimum 40 x 20 Barn, and then build out from there....
Oh, Image the workshop I could have....

Agreed.
It just makes sense to follow the logical flow chart.
1/ Buy land with all the needed permissions and services.
2/ Live in the MH while the Barn is built.
3/ Put MH in the Barn and live in it whilst Apartment is built above.
4/ Live in Apartment while main house is built.
5/ Move into main house, and apartment becomes guest house.
6/ Drop dead from exhaustion...

Well that is one way of doing it. I bought my retirement home several years before I retired. A few years later I had the shop built. BTW 20x40 is way too small. Mine is 40x60 and it is way too small. When I did retire, I moved in and was ready to play.

This is pretty good fellas......
So this is our first trip that we brought my little dirt bike along with. I don't know why really, just never did it before. I wanted to make a couple mods to the hitch carrier before we used it and got those done last week. Soooo off we go on the short 1.5 hour trip down to our favorite local state park with bike on the back lookin good.
The park is pretty spread out and we wanted to explore a few areas that are too far for us to walk from the campground. We hopped on the DR yesterday and took off, little chilly out but the sun was shining and it was a very pretty day to have the bike out in the park. Got about a 3/4 of a mile down the road and the bike started missing a bit and backfired a couple times....I've never had any problems with it before..completely stock Suzuki DR 200. Runs like a little champ. Well it died, started it up and it died again....and again.
We are about a mile from our campsite with Lynn on the back. Guess who didn't even think once to check how much fuel was in the tank before we left home.....yup...THIS GUY!
Hehehehehehehe flat outta gas, NOBODY AROUND, no gasoline on the rig just a small amount of diesel. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww CRAP! We get to laughing pretty hard about our situation and I say to Lynn "Ya, I didn't understand why it was missing so bad"... Lynn comes back with " It was missing alright.....IT WAS MISSING ABOUT TWO GALLONS OF GAS!!!!!!!" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

My loving wife !

So we had a nice long walk (push) back to our 310. Ahhhhh well

Did you learn the bike down on the pick up side? My KLR has over a liter of fuel on the right side of the tank that never makes it over to the fuel pick up. It's the KLR reserve to the reserve.
Cheers
Tony

PS We have a couple inches of snow already and woke up yesterday to -13C.

Not exactly sure when we are going to head down to the Pueblo area John. It may be on the beginning of the trip in early Dec or we may wait to go down in Jan. Wish I was more definite. Let's keep in touch cause we would love to hang out with you two while we are out there. Christmas will be up in Denver or Fort Collins, other than that we are pretty flexible while we are out there. Jan might work the best.

We were also thinking about heading down to Trinidad which is just north of the border with NM. That might be a cool place to hook up.
