Since the pot luck list always gets screwed up, it may be better for everyone to go back to RSVP page and put in what they will be bringing or signing up for. It would cut down on a lot of copying and pasteing and everything would be on one page.

Canopener 2015
So, how do we change our RSVP to indicate what we'll be bringing to the potluck, and also to indicate that I added a day, coming in on Thursday instead of Friday?
-Red, who normally figures out things like this for himself, but, oddly enough, is stumped with this one...
Never mind... You have to scroll down AND be logged in... Got it!

In the past there has been a potluck post on this thread to which people can state what they are bringing. The individual potluck contributions are not put on the RSVP page. I believe the host starts the potluck post with what she/he is bringing and then others copy the list, add to it, and create their own post on this thread.
I spoke to the host, "Alumitater" today. He's out camping and will be having a planning meeting later this week with some of the other Canopener organizers to iron out several details. Next week or the following week there will be further communication from him, on this thread, regarding the potluck and other rally activities.
With respect to changing your dates, or any other part of your RSVP page post:
Go to the RSVP page. Scroll to the bottom of the page where your RSVP posting form is located. Make any changes you wish.
We still have a little more than 3 months until the event. Rest assured it will all come together!

No problem with being antsy. It is a great event. There's a lot of hard work throughout the year behind the scenes by a small group of dedicated and unpaid volunteers that make it special. My wife and I also look forward to attending and about this time of year start wishing the clock would speed up!

Patience, please.
Folks:
I have been on the road driving all day.......and am just reviewing today's activities on this thread.
Lots of emotions brewing over some tragic news...let's pause and keep Jeff and Cynthia in our prayers and respect Jeff's most recent post. He said it best.
Far as potluck sigh up, in the past we have had a particular post that each person added to. Joe has an interesting suggestion regarding posting your potluck offerings on the RSVP page, but let me check with the others dealing with the RSVP page for our name badges and the site map first to ensure that would not interfere with their efforts or cause confusion.
I sure appreciate all your suggestions and would welcome PMs with any future ones. I will be posting additional details as they solidify.

Hi Tom and Robin! If I may make a suggestion, why have a pot-luck sign up list at all? If we only had 12 or so units I could see the need, so everybody doesn't bring dessert and has a poor meal. But with this many units, I think the odds are good for a variety of dishes, to say the least. And we all know many don't bother to sign up at all, and others change their food offerings at the last minute.

I was getting worried you 2 weren't going to show for 2015. Glad to see you will be there.

Sandy: you must have been reading my mind! Luckyducks and I had discussed that very idea a few weeks back. Russ has hosted the last two Canopeners, so I very much value his guidance. I'm not sure I see the value either for the very reasons you articulate. Will be discussing further this next week. Thanks for your suggestion.

The only thought I will put into mix is that it may help someone who has 2 choices as to what they will bring. The published list may be the tie breaker.

I like the idea of no list... After all, isn't that what "pot-luck" is really all about?
-Red, hoping we get 47 peach cobblers...

Somebody had better bring peach cobbler or Red is gonna be seriously disappointed.
Having never cooked camper food and unsure if the oven will work. I am in favor of no list. That way when I burn everything, there will be no record I was supposed to bring campfire gourmet and not BBQ chips.

I agree that a list may not be required. Why be obligated to bring a specific dish? Just bring something. I have never seen a shortage of food at any rally I have attended.

So what if everyone brings dessert? Wow, just think 96 desserts! Just kidding. Rice cakes anyone? Cobbler sounds deelish. Burn it, you eat it, Nolte! At the Sarasota Rally I learned to make Chocolate Souf - uh, Chocolate Surprise. Yeah, that's it! Either that or Squirrel Stew.
