2021 FBT w/hatch table storage question

We just ordered a 25' FBT with the Hatch option. All the images and videos I can find only show table storage for the 25 FB under the queen bed. Looking for information on how the table is stored on the Hatch version. Is it two tops and two posts? Does each top fit under one of the twins? Thanks.

I saw a video on youtube that shows there are 2 table legs that detach from the floor and the tabletop, similar to the Nest 16U mechanism. Probably the same video you saw, as it showed the table storage under the queen mattress. There is closet storage for the legs but I have no clue where the tabletop would go.

Can I ask what drew you to the hatch option?

I have no idea why they left it out. I’d trade it for the TV in the bedroom. We’ve never used it. Although it comes on when we try and watch the other TV.

We had that same problem with the bedroom television which we also rarely watch. We just left it unplugged most of the time. We recently replaced the living room television with a new Samsung 32" QLED. The new Samsung remote does not activate the bedroom television. By the way, the new Samsung QLED is probably one of the best upgrades we have ever done.

Today’s question is not for the 25FBT so much as for Airstreamers in general. What are your solutions for a full-length mirror? It looks like mounting one on the inside of the bathroom door would be possible, or maybe on one of the closet doors. Have folks found good quality mirrors that fit well in an Airstream?

I used a lightweight plastic framed mirror from Walmart. Carefully drilled holes for stainless steel 1” #8 sheet metal screws in the frame outside the edge of the glass in 8 places. I screwed it into the back of my wardrobe door. There are two screws top and bottom and the other four are in the sides of the frame. It’s not going anywhere.

SWMBO likes it. Done!

It does not to be heavy polished plate glass or anything fancy. The door holds it flat. I used a fair number of screws to keep it in place snd did carefully drill pilot holes in the door. I did not use power tools to set the screws. Just be sure to pick the right length.

I used this frameless mirror from Lowes, and attached it the outside of the bathroom door with VHB tape:

I took the door off and laid it flat on some saw horses so that I could get it on straight. It's been there for a couple years now with no problems.

Three reasons I can think of: loading our bikes is much easier, makes the trailer seem bigger when the hatch is open and we liked the back door with the screen on our 16 Basecamp.

That makes a lot of sense moving up from the basecamp, seems like a great way to load lots of stuff quickly!

Picked up one at Lowes today, can't wait to get the trailer so we can install it!

We have a 2016 FC 25FBT, love it and think it’s the perfect size for us. Plenty of living and storage space for long trips and not to big to tow easily with F150. You definitely need a good weight distribution hitch, we have an Equilizer. Something to be aware of, the actual tongue weight will be much more than that advertised by AS. Ours is about 1200 pounds, and I watch our weigh from contents closely. When you pick it up at dealer they will set up hitch for empty trailer and truck. You will need to readjust with trailer and truck loaded.

If you did not order the rear and street side awnings you will want them. We got second air, microwave, inverter but passed on extra awnings. Bad decision, we went to Jackson Center to have them added. They did a great job, wouldn’t trust Holiday World in Houston to do that. If you want to add a satellite receiver, the connection inside is a coiled up cable under the box where the DVD player sits. You will also need to change out the splitter so you can feed both TVs. I have AS instruction on how to do it.

We have a simple dish drainer that stores under sink, is big enough for two of us, sits on counter and has a little part on bottom that can be put over the sink to drain water. Get a bungee cord to hold the slide out drawer under the curb side dinette seat closed during travel. Tie something around the handles on the two doors under the sink to keep them from opening during travel. All other doors stay closed. And for sure travel with dinette table down!

Be glad to answer any questions.

I admit that when I am camping I don't WANT to know what I look like! :-)

Cabinet dimensions and storage

Got a response back from the very helpful Bruce at airstream.com, in response to my question about cabinet dimensions. We've seen several videos, including this very helpful one
with storage options. The good news is the cabinets and lockers have been the same size on the widebody trailers like this one since 2011. To me and my wife this is great news because we can start stocking up on the correct bins and baskets and reusing some of ours from our prior Nest like these

My wife found another great video of a 25 FBT showing all the storage. https://youtu.be/a1aaMv2VGnM

Thanks for asking this question. Where are the table and legs stored with a 27fbt and 25fbt w/hatch?

We are hoping for a June delivery for our FC27FBT Hatch. Our biggest extra expense is going to be the conversion to a 4 lithium battery upgrade. Initial plans are to put the batteries and controller in the passenger side compartment. Any ideas on what can be put in the driver side compartment to level out the weight distribution?

Thanks

I think you’ll find it far better electrically to put the batteries on the curb side since that’s where Airstream has all the electrical stuff. We put ours under that bed with the Victron Multiplus 3000 inverter in the curb outside compartment. The stock 1,000 watt inverter didn’t work for us because we wanted to be able to run hair driers, induction cooktops, microwave, coffee maker, etc.

I assume you are adding solar as well? 500w fits easily on the roof.

The legs have brackets in the closet for storage. The table top slides under the queen bed (at least it does in the 27). I will see if I can find a YouTube video that shows this.

Quoting myself since I cannot edit. This video shows the brackets on the underside of the queen at 7:10 in the video. He doesn’t actually put it in there but I think he mentions it somewhere. Fwiw, this is the only vid I have seen where it is mentioned at all.

I ordered the 27fb Twin and at some point i intend to split the dinette table into two pieces so I can stow them at the foot of the twins.

I wondered if splitting the table was a potential solution. I really liked the idea that AS had with the queen bed and was hoping for a similar solution for the twin bed.

I also like the idea of additional cabinetry just under the TV. The need for extra counter space and storage trumps the need for another sleeping pull out. daleyokum had a nice photo of that change. His had a microwave in the opening.

I had asked if it was possible to get the U-Dinette from the Globetrotter and was referred to ultimate airstream for that mod. Talked to them about it and decided Against having them do it for us. We are still considering their Grand Lounge - but that might be a next year purchase.
