Rivet repair?
Well, it finally happened!
My wife pointed above the dinette the other day and said - "look, we lost a rivet!"
So, I'm assuming I can just use my pop rivet gun to repair it - right? Do I need any special size or material for an interior ceiling rivet repair?
Thanks in advance!
1/8 inch diameter X 1/4 inch long aluminum with an aluminum mandrel. Home Depot has them. Drill out the old one and put a new one in. Easy as pie.
The real question is why are you popping rivets. This is usually indicative of a rough ride in the trailer. Tire pressure, tire balance, stiff TV suspension, driving too fast on rough roads... Don't just treat the symptom, (replacing the rivets), find the cause and rectify that too.
Popping a rivet or two or three is kinda expected if you do much traveling. Twisting, turning and bouncing down the road causes that. Just replace as soon as you see them missing. I carry rivets and a rivet gun with me all the time.
