Sagging Truck?

I think all Tundras have sloppy receiver hitches including my 2010 Double Cab but adding one of those devices to prevent it does it mean you have to unbolt it every time you want to remove the hitch head from the receiver? Maybe some small spot welds on two sides of the shank are needed.

Yeah, but it's not that difficult. I only switch from my Equal-i-zer hitch head to a draw bar with a 2" ball for a utility trailer occasionally. I have Rock Tamers and a locking hitch pin, anyway, so changing hitches is already a lot of trouble. The main use for the Tundra is to pull the Airstream- that is 90% of the time. The other 10% it is a very large car.
We do camp every week until the middle of winter (even Thanksgiving and Christmas and trips to the coast in November and January- I guess February is the only month we don't camp) so the hitch seldom comes out. Also, it is too heavy to remove very often.

Not exactly like that.
You say my hitch is bent.
I say it isn't.
You say a second time my hitch is bent.
I go crawl around under the truck and inspect and take pictures.
I still say my hitch is not bent.
You won't believe me no matter what.
I will have it inspected, though, because you still think it's bent.
If it were convenient or close for me to do so I would drive to your location so you can see for yourself.
Also, i think many haven't read my posts and have missed my point.
I do have good weight distribution and sway control, but the trailer is nose down.
Helpful would be for someone with a similar truck, trailer, and hitch to tell me what they did to get the trailer level- or that they have good weight distribution and sway control.

It took out all the wobble/slop/play which I think is responsible for the elongated pin hole.
I also think it might get me a little more lift at the hitch head.
Washers are on the way from Equal-i-zer for me to try.
On the end, my trailer may still be nose down, but I'm trying everything I can think of to level the trailer while maintaining good weight distribution/sway control.

MICHAEL; After looking at your picture of the top view of the hitch, I also believe it is bent. I went out and looked at my hitch and compared it to your picture and here is what I see on your hitch: The left side of the bracket from the hitch head to the drop appears to shift to the right. The right side of that bracket bends away from the drop. Thus the hitch head appears to shift to the right.

The hitch head does have a bend to the right.

Equal-i-zer says it shouldn't affect performance or safety.
I cannot imagine any scenario that would cause that.
We just drove 2 1/2 hours. It doesn't seem to bother anything.

The bolts are long enough that I could straighten it and reinforce it with steel plate on both sides.

The bend to the right is not going to make a difference, so long as it isn't loose.

I would like to know if it was always that way or if it wes bent in use.

I don't have the foggiest. I just noticed it yesterday. Someone suggested that it could have possibly been born that way.
How hard would a car have to hit it to bend it? Our daughter had a dent in her front grill that corresponded closely to the height of the trailer hitch. I couldn't imagine how she could hit it in the driveway- or I can- I know her bad driving- on the phone, going too fast, not paying attention, ignoring the parking sensors when they beep-

As much time as you've spent tweaking your hitch try one more time with the extra washer and call it a day until you can replace it with a ProPride.

I don't know how much of an impact it would take to bend that, but not a super hard hit IMO, but regardless, the bend itself isn't going to make any practical difference whatsoever, unless the joint is lose.

Here is my opinion in a nutshell, if your trailer pulls well slightly nose down.... Then go with it.

Watch it for a while look for lose stuff, and if all stays cool ignore the slight tilt and enjoy your trailer.

Chasing stuff like that will steal your joy man!!

Besides, it might have been that way the whole time.

I won't chase it much longer- try another washer in the hitch head- if that don't work, I'm done. I think I should try. In the end I may accept a nose down trailer. Airstream says it's OK. Equal-i-zer says it's OK. I'm just OCD.

I have looked at your pics.

Is the hitch off level? I cant say by looking at the pictures, but you can see the truck in person, i defer to your observation.

The welds don't look like they are failing in the pics, and there is nothing to indicate catastrophic failure. Use the truck and trailer, watch carefully for changes for a time and like I say, if it stays cool and tows good ignore the imperfections.

Towing safely is a science, but the standards are a bit wider than some might think. Short of catastrophic failure, by employing a consistent common sense you are going to be ok.

I do enjoy my trailer every week/weekend. Most of this experimenting/adjusting happens on the road- rest areas and campgrounds- I just want to enjoy my trailer level, but if it isn't, we gonna live through it.

Now I am OCD about steering, brakes, tires, and a SOUND CONNECTION between truck and trailer, the rest is pretty much detail that we can adapt to or fix on the fly!

My bed is in the front of my trailer so a slight nose down attitude is good for my brain blood flow when sleeping in route....
