Fixed windows on 34'

Do all 34' airstreams have 2 fixed windows on each side of the door? If so why are they fixed? We have looked at two 34' Limited Edition trailers. Both had the large windows on either side of door but they did not open.
Second question: are these windows prone to leak?
Thanks

Fixed Windows

I can't address whether all 34' have fixed windows or not. Mine '95 does. Don't know why the front roadside window is fixed. I suspect the reason the "back" one is fixed is because the door would break it should you forget to close it before opening the door completely.

No, they don't. The "stacked" window which opens is an option to the right of the door. To the left of the door, over the dinette is one stacked window and a fixed window that the door opens against. Even this window can be special ordered as an opening stacked window, although Airstream does not recommend it.

My ’83 has the fixed windows too. I understand why the one the door could hit doesn’t open, but am puzzled about the one that the door can’t hit. On that note, I’m still puzzled why the door opens the way it does. If it were hinged on the other side, it would blow shut if it accidentally opened while towing.

I can give a heads up on why I think it's fixed. I had quit opening the one on my 30' because every time I did I banged it with my head. And both windows are fixed on my '82 34'.
