Composting Toilet in Basecamp 20X

Has anyone converted a Basecamp 20X to a composting toilet? I'm being told that the space is insufficient for a conversion.
Thanks,
JK

We put a natures head in our 16 with no issues. Works great.

Details, details....

Any chance you feel like providing some details of your conversion @SchuHouse? I'm waiting on a 2023 Basecamp 16X delivery in November (fingers crossed) that I'm considering converting to Nature's Head. I've seen others interested, too.

Based on its title I probably wouldn't have caught that it was dealing with the same subject but lots of good info in it....

Sorry for the delay

Here is a pic.

We did it from day one so never used the combo tank as a black water, gray only. I had Colonial install it.

My wife made a curtain to cover it when we shower as extra precaution. I would do this again in a heartbeat. Gives us extended use of holding tanks, easy to empty and zero smell.

Sorry for not thanking you sooner, SchuHouse! It's much appreciated!

Does anyone have a lead on a dealer or service center that would do a composting toilet conversion on a 20x?

https://www.ultimateairstreams.com/why-ultimate

Have talked to them and they will toilet conversions on a 20x. They are part of an Airstream dealer in Portland OR so their work does not void any Airstream warranties.

https://www.ultimateairstreams.com/projects/Toilet

Image is from their page, looks like a Nature's Head composting toilet.

They are booked up till January, 2023.

For me, I have a dilemma. I have a deposit in on the REI Basecamp 16x with the composting toilet option but am torn over wanting more space....so many tradeoffs...

The Thetford Porta Pottis are under $200 (Amazon or dealer direct) and could give you what you need while you wait... I think one just might fit in the BR of the 16 and avoid use of the installed toilet that would create black water - if that's your thinking. I'm leaning that way myself as I wait for delivery of mine... Awkward BR setup? Maybe... but saves space for just gray water in the 16... Cheap - relatively. Opportunity to get in line for composting toilet install or think about DIY... Just a thought., CR-Rylie,..
