That's not a terribly high number of units. I expected more.

Thanks for posting the PDF. After reviewing the numbers provided, are these numbers named differently on the label on the axle? The only number with six digits contains 123456-11. I'm wondering if the 11 is the month on manufacture.
Thanks much!

I am thinking those are the last 6 digits of the AS serial number ("units") and not the Dexter Axle serial numbers.

That was my assumption too.

I think they match up to the last 4 of the VIN (maybe that’s also the serial number?), they seem in the right range for that.

Yep, I believe AS is using "serial number" and "VIN" interchangeably here.

I believe that the serial number is always the last x number of digits of a VIN. The first portions can be the same for many vehicles sharing the same characteristics, but the last x number of digits makes up the unique identifier for the vehicle.

Yeah, that’s what I had assumed but didn’t know for sure. The last 6 of my VIN also shows up on other labels and places on the trailer, though I’ve not yet seen anything that specifically identifies it as a serial number. All my purchase paperwork lists the entire VIN as the serial number. But regardless, that makes sense, most identifier numbering systems work similarly to that.

I believe you are correct. The last six in my VIN are in the same sequence. I'm pleasantly surprised mine is not in the list, but the previous VIN's adjacent to mine are. Thanks for setting me straight on the numbers.

The Dexter manual that came with our 2014 FC has the axle model, capacity, and serial numbers on the inside of the front cover.

My 2022 Globetrotter 27FBQ came off the line on 4/25/22 and is NOT on the list. There are VINs on the list just below and above mine. We are headed out tomorrow so very glad to not be part of the recall, and super bummed for those who are.
:-(
Hope you are back on the road soon.

The serial number for our Globetrotter 27FB Twin that was expected to be released from the factory on June 29th is on the list of trailers with the Dexter axle issue.
No update yet from the dealer as to any delivery delays might result from addressing this issue at the factory.

I’ll post again when I find out more.

It’s me again!
Sales rep called Monday and confirmed they will have the parts they need for the axles, which she confirmed is a washer issue, by the end of business on Tuesday. So, we are on again for delivery next Friday. She said that they are prioritizing all units that were delayed for axle issue.
WOW, what an experience! Hope everyone else has equally good news.
Best wishes.

Dexter Axle Experience
The recall being discussed here may be a simple fix such as a crown nit washer or failed change to the way a crown nut is now being held into adjustment. However, my experience played out like this.
Last summer I had 3 new axles installed on my 2004 34'er at the Mothership. After about 200 miles I returned to the factory due to extremely hot brake drums, wheels and hot tires with excess tire pressure readings on my TMS. All wheels were jacked up to discover the bearings were not properly set and absolute minimal, if any, grease was on the bearings at the Dexter Factory. All issues were quickly corrected. No heat buildup since. My suggestion is that if you have any question about a possible recall on your axles or not, have your wheels pulled and properly grease and set the bearings using a coterpin to hold the crown nut. Take nothing for granted.

Dexter
One Smith, we canceled 2022 FC 28 order which has been on order for 14 months. The total lack of QC with Airstream has finally taken its toll. Our current 2018 Classic 33 has spent over 470 days on dealer lots and at JC for repairs since May, 2018. Guess we’ll keep her for now until we decide to move on to a more reliable brand.

Dexter Axles 72 Safari
So my 72 Safari has been in the shop in Houston waiting on the new Axles that came in a few weeks ago. So I was told it's on hold til Dexter clears this up. I put it in the shop in February and then was told it would be 6 weeks once they ordered before delivery. And the other big part of work was to put in a grey water tank which was waiting on the Axels so the under the trailer work all happens at the same time. Fortunately my 2006 25' Safari just needs a new lock on the door and off we go.
