Life goes on

Life goes on. Still nothing new here.Still sitting under the Pepper tree thinking the wind is going to blow it,me and the trailer away some times.
Made a big mistake yesterday and drove the 84+miles up to Yosemite NP.Since the big snow this winter the falls are real nice this year, lots of water going over them.
BUT so did everyone in the U.S. The cars on the 140 entrance where backed up and it took almost 2 hours to get in.Then once in the traffic was like a Wallmart parking lot on a sales day. Then could not find a restroom.I was not a happy camper or was my wife. All you can do is go with the traffic see what you can since all the parking is full. I can tell you that NP needs $$ bad.So think twice before you go there.
To go with this are photos of Trans New England airline C-47s. This was another of my mistakes in life,I went to work for them in Feb 1974 as Head of QC and it was a cold winter. It snowed on the 7th of May and I went in and told them the trees in TX where green and I quit.

Love the photos of the airplanes I can remember from my youth. The unmistakeable "sound of round" engines always brings back memories of the many twin Beeches we had as company planes.

Hi from AZ. . . I too love the 'sound of round', and once flew from Houston to San Antonio in a Trans Texas DC 3. . . it was so rough the stew hollered from her seat ' if you want anything, you'll have to get up and get it yourself'.......and actually, my 1st flight ever was on an E A Stern DC-3, MIA to Key West ! ! regards, Craig

I flew on one or two DC-3s, then quite a few Martin (404?s) in the 60s. Loved the sound, but engine stalling on landing was exciting!

Other thing round made of aluminum

Nice to see there are other folks that like aluminum other then airstream aluminum.
Round engines there is nothing better than the sound of them.
Here are photos of my days at Airgo air freight out of Dallas TX, they worked for FedEX and Emery air cargo .I was at LAX and PHX in 1978/80.

BEST MAXINE EVER, EVER, EVER!

SORRY BUT TO GOOD NOT TO POST

RIGHT ON MAXINE!!!

This is the best analogy yet!
Leave it to Maxine to come up with a solution for the mess that
US/Canada/UK/Germany/Australia/NZ is now in economically.
cid:1BHcFONSHA8dlhc7QQrF

I bought a bird feeder. I hung it
on my back porch and filled it
with seed. What a beauty of
a bird feeder it was, as I filled it
lovingly with seed.
Within a week we had hundreds of birds
taking advantage of the
continuous flow of free and
easily accessible food.

But then the birds started
building nests in the boards
of the patio, above the table,
and next to the barbecue.

Then came the ****. It was
everywhere: on the patio tile,
the chairs, the table ...
everywhere!

Then some of the birds
turned mean. They would
dive bomb me and try to
peck me even though I had
fed them out of my own
pocket.

And others birds were
boisterous and loud. They
sat on the feeder and
squawked and screamed at
all hours of the day and night
and demanded that I fill it
when it got low on food.

After a while, I couldn't even
sit on my own back porch
anymore. So I took down the
bird feeder and in three days
the birds were gone. I cleaned
up their mess and took down
the many nests they had built
all over the patio.

Soon, the back yard was like
it used to be ..... quiet, serene....
and no one demanding their
rights to a free meal.

Now let's see......
Our government gives out
free food, subsidized housing,
free medical care and free
education, and allows anyone
born here to be an automatic
citizen.

Then the illegals came by the
tens of thousands. Suddenly
our taxes went up to pay for
free services; small apartments
are housing 5 families; you
have to wait 6 hours to be seen
by an emergency room doctor;
Your child's second grade class is
behind other schools because
over half the class doesn't speak
English.

Corn Flakes now come in a
bilingual box; I have to
'press one ' to hear my bank
talk to me in English, and
people waving flags other
than â€ours†are
squawking and screaming
in the streets, demanding
more rights and free liberties.

Just my opinion, but maybe
it's time for the government
to take down the bird feeder.

If you agree, pass it on; if not,
just continue cleaning up the ****!

Agree!!

Maxine is a smart woman.

We need to empower people not disable them. Free is not always good. Hard work and earning is a better sense of accomplishment and pride.

The pendulum will swing the other way at some point if only because it has to.

I hope the your right and the pendulum start back soon.Just not enough folks thinking like us to make it happen.
I am working in poor old California and they broke the pendulum off so no hope for them.
Here was a Job I had at Frakes Aviation in 1974 to 1976 taking round engines off and putting TP engines on.

Help with Zip Dee awning

Well here I go again.I want to replace my Zip Dee awning BUT before I put it on I need a new tube that it rolls up on.Right now the only one I have found is from Zip Dee.The shipping is about $300 + the price of the tube.
So I tried to find one in California what a joke, non of the tubing suppliers can find me one.The tube is 23 ft long,3 inches OD and 18 gauge. The nearest that they can find is 11 Gauge and the ID is to small to get the spring in and end caps on. If anyone can help I sure would like to hear from you. Thanks.
The only think I can ever find in this state is high gas prices and high taxes.Life goes on boondocking under the Pepper tree.
From my passed life working for the Libyan Army/Air Force back in 1974/1977.
The old CH-47C is almost the same shape as a Airstream.

COOL it is NOT in the west USA. Phoenix AZ 119, Death Valley 126, the valley in CA we are setting new high temp records some place almost every day. Atwater where I am is 109.
Most Airstream trailer AC are not big enough to keep you cool in this heat. By about 5 PM out side temp 105 in trailer about 88, the Pepper tree does not shade the back and side from the setting sun. Global warming? When is the ice age coming?
Yosemite NP said today that now you can make reservations for a parking spot in one of the parking lots for $1.50.You do it on same website that you reserve a camp site on. Does that tell you anything. To many folks there.
Photo of my past life working on wild fires with DC-7C's air tankers late 1978 till about 1988.I gave that up after the Yellowstone NP fire.It looks like this could be a bad year here in the west with this heat.
HE'S SO HONEST YOU COULD SHOOT CRAPS WITH HIM OVER THE PHONE.Colorful Texas saying.

I have been told that I should be saying in"THE OLDEN DAYS" when I post photos of my past life.Because I am an OLD MAN.
Live goes on under the pepper tree for the OLD MAN.
I do not remember but I may have posted this before.
I have to tell you that I don't plan to retire to a rocking chair. A man wasn't meant to do nothing, even if he can afford to. Lay about long enough your mind decides your life is over, and you die. I don't intend for that to happrn to me.
Why is so much said that social security is going to go broke,BUT you never hear that welfare or congress retirement is going to run out of money.
We should pay Congress minium wage then maybe they might not stay for ever to get rich.

Well life goes on under the Pepper tree but it does little to keep the trailer cool in this 105 type temp.
Back in the olden day we did not have AC to keep us cool had to sleep in wet sheets to stay cool, drink a lot of lemonade and swim in the irrigation canals and that was 5 mile walk uphill both ways on a old dusty road to no where. No where was where we got ice cream or cold watermelon on Sunday if we had been good in church. Then home to do the chores like feed the live stock chop wood for the cooking fire, pick food out of the garden for dinner, dig hole to move the old outhouse over, and always fences to fix.
NO where was Winnemucca NV where my Grate Grandfather and his wife Caroline Whitaker went to see the elephant when they went lived in Paradise valley NV in 1868 and and my Grate Uncle and Aunt Ellen Redon from Andrews OR where married 1873.Juan Redon was head Buckaroo for the Whitehorse ranch when they started it in 1869 and the Alvord ranch in OR.He is also in the Buckaroo hall of fame in Winnemucca NV.

Fire

The peace and quit are gone from under the Pepper tree during the day by the Detwiler fire.about 40 miles East of us.
It now has burnt more than 75,000 acres and 70+ homes and still going strong.
We have 3 DC-10 fire fighting air tankers here along with 12 helicopters a DC-7,C-130 and a MD80s all reloading & fueling out of Castle airport. I hear yesterday they ran out of fuel on the airport. They fly from around 10 AM till about 8:30 PM.
The thing is all the green seem to worry about is all the smoke from the fire is going to kill us all.Do not understand if that is the worst why not get Governor Brown so sign a executive order to have no wild fires in CA. Laws stop all bad things from happening in the world right!
Is anyone using the new AOL desktop Gold? I sure am having trouble with it. Right now I am trying to upload 1 photo for this post and it will not do it,it been 10 min. Will post photos if I can get it to work.
