Hi Folks, I just did a quick search of the forums and didn't see this topic. I couldn't decide where to put this topic so I figured boondockers might be the best home for the thread.

I'm looking for a couple of quality lithium ion rechargeable led flashlights for the missus and I.

Built in battery management to avoid overcharging and burning up the airstream would be a plus to say the least. Other features like lumen output light level, water resistance, battery life, recharge speed, etc are all items for consideration as well. I'm not too price sensitive (within reason), as I want a quality flashlight that will last many years.

What are you using? Why did you choose that model? Has it lived up to your expectations (would you buy it again)? Etc, etc.

We have Anker flashlights. A couple of bigger ones and a couple smaller ones (called Boulder). Got them from Amazon and they have been top notch performers.

I’ve purchased a pair of Black Diamond Revolt 350 LED headlamps. USB charging of the built-in Lithium ion batteries or you can swap them with AAs, plenty bright but dimmable (which I consider the most important feature), can hold in your hand or keep both your hands free.

I also bought a couple of Petzl headlamps for the kids. A little cheaper and more basic but they have the ability to change colors (red supposedly does not attract insects).

I’ll check ours when I’m back ar the trailer. We use rechargeable flashlights. Headlamps too. They work well.

O-Light

They make a number of lights which are easy to charge - they use a magnetic charging cord that makes it simple to connect after use. I've got one which can clip into a headband or be used independently and another which lives in the arm rest of the TV.

They have variety of higher end products covering the spectrum of handheld, headlamps and equipment mounted. They're intended for everyday work to outdoors usage and public safety applications.

I have a couple of PD35 lights that I'd purchased for work. Carried them for several years and they've done double duty moving into the camper on trips. I've got a Gen1 and Gen3. The latest version recharges with a USB C connector. Because they're LED there's lot's of life if used on a lower power setting...like months and months. There's a power switch that let's you select how bright the beam is up to 1000 lumen.

It's great rugged equipment designed for rough service that'll last a lifetime.

I would recommend you go on West marine and see what they have for portable lights. Boaters need good ones at night.

There are dozens upon dozens of flashlights out there.

I run numerous, but tend toward 18650's. I also have a couple 14500's that I can run regular AA's in.

So many different user modes available. I tend towards 5 mode, (3 brightnesses, s.o.s. and strobe) but have others.

I'd probably pick something like this one if I were looking to buy.

I'm a Luddite.
I still like the Harbor Freight headlamp that uses (3) AAA batteries. $12.
I replace the included el-cheapo batteries with Lithiums because they don't leak and seem to last forever.
It's a plus when using the Blackstone after dark (Like at Topsail Hill where it gets dark at 5:30pm.)

I will second https://www.olightstore.com/all-products.html flashlights. I have a variety of them, never had one fail unlike many other brands - Fenix, Black Diamond, etc.
If you can find a SUPERNOVA Guardian 1300xl flashlight, they are amazing. I have had one for 6 years and use it every night when walking my dog.

Thanks for all the recommendations so far.

I will be checking out all of the recommendations, so keep them coming.

Please add rechargeable headlamps to the request for recommendations as I need a couple of those as well. Would like a red light option on headlamp to avoid attracting bugs to my face at night :-)

I don’t use rechargeable lights.
When I need them they need recharged.😡

However, Streamlight and SureFire, both make rechargeable versions if you must go that way.
I have owned both companies lamps, and they are extremely well made, always reliable and ready to light up anything!

I ONLY have and will purchase lamps with replaceable batteries, for the reason that it only take seconds to be back in service.

SureFire light are pricy!!! But worth the money, these are the lights that the U.S. military special units use for good reason.
Both manufacturers have several battery types available for the different lamps.

If you want to spot deer 100 yards away? SureFire!

Ryobi P704 18v. As we have drills and small chain saw that we also carry when travelling, having interchangeable batteries is easy.

I'll second the Fenix Lights.

I carry the PD36R everyday. It's a larger light but still fits in the pocket. Has a large battery that I bought a second of, but never have swapped it out. I just recharge about once a month and I use it almost daily. (I'm a contractor)

They have a ton of different lights, check them out.

For a handheld flashlight I highly recommend the Anker Boulder LC90 as it uses a 18650 battery (I have had one for a couple of years)

For a headlamp get something like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CDW7XG6...xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ== as it uses 2 of the 18650 batteries as well.

The biggest drawback on Li ion battery flashlights/and headlamps is the lack of warning that your battery is about gone. the circuits keep a constant light level until the battery is about depleted and then they will flash the light but if you don't have another battery ready and charged you will be left in the dark.
