POLL: Do you use surge protection?

Just curious how many folks use electrical surge protection for the AS?

Not yet but I have considered it. I do use a Kill-a-watt monitor to view campground voltages.

I was just shopping for a TRC Surge Guard 34750 - but the reviews on performance and customer service have me wandering if it is worth the cost. I have a 30 amp that I used on our prior travel trailer but need a new one for 50 amp service.
are there recommendations Surge protectors other than the TRC Surge Guard 34750?

Yes, and I am glad!

Have used my surge protection for the past 3 years, never found a problem until this spring. Wasn't going to use the surge protection in a regional park, but thought what the heck. Plugged it in and got the error message that there was an open ground. Checked a couple of other sites and all were the same.

Alerted the campground ground managers, who promptly fixed all the power monuments.

Yes, aome big heavy $300.00 or so one. I read here afew yeRs ago, that it was important to protect qhat is an expensive system. My first two times out this year I was at Fairground campgrounds. Both times it stayed red and kept saying open ground. My friend insisted it was overkill and broken. Next place I went and since then it has been perfect. Something was wrong with power towers at fairgrounds. I call it insurance. My work computers are plugged in there.

A simple $10 circuit tester, which my dealer included and I leave plugged into an outlet all the time, would have shown that. I also leave a Watt Miser plugged in which shows me the voltage. OK, I'm not protected from surges, but they are rare and can do damage before the protector can react.

YMMV, but I'm content.
