NE Forum Rally
Is there any interest in having an informal "Northeast Forum" Rally? I was thinking it could be a very informal get together for Airstreamers (regardless of WBCCI status)! This would be a great way to meet other forum members for those that are interested.

I'm game.
apparently, that is not a long enough reply for the forum software, so I had to add this sentence to go along with it.

What's your availability?
It seems like there is quite a bit of interest up and down the East Coast! I would say the first steps would be to determine an approximate geographic area that everyone is willing to travel to and to determine a date. If everyone who is interested could reply to this thread with the following info, I would be happy to compile the results:
1) What state are you located in (if the info isn't already part of your post/signature)?
2) How far are you willing to travel for a weekend?
3) What weekends are you available this fall?
I'll go first:
1) Massachusetts
2) VT, ME, MA, Eastern NY, CT, RI, NH, Eastern PA
3) No availability in Sept; Oct 16 - 17, Oct 23 - 24, Oct 30 - 31
An idea for next year is we could plan a longer rally to give the New England folks a chance to travel further south and the South Eastern folks a chance to travel further north!

We'd come if the dates work. We're planning to do Region 1 Aug 5-8, then no plans until the week after Labor Day. We're in northern VT and would go 300 miles.
Massachusetts makes sense since it's pretty central. But there's some great stuff in VT, the Adirondacks, & NH. I would recommend Jamaica State Park in southern VT, anywhere between Lincoln and Conway NH, and most state parks in the Adirondacks or Catskills. Or in Maine, anywhere along the coast from the NH border to Bar Harbor is good for us.
Late October is no good for us since we are usually forced to winterize by mid-October.

My bad! Thank goodness for the "edit" button...I've fixed my oversight! Have I ever told you that NH is one of my personal favorite destinations for camping?

I know of a really nice, woodsy campground in Boothbay, ME, that I might suggest.
Thing I'm wondering about, though, is that alot of places around here close up shop ~Oct 15. so "later" might leave fewer options.

Chuck,
You make a very strong point there about the closing date~
I know a place here in NH, that might be available around the first of Oct.
(We held a buddy rally there last year.
Some of the pictures are on the forum here..)
It's real private~!!
Just a thought..
ciao

What a great idea!!
Sounds absolutely wonderful.
LY we winterized mid-october so my guess is we'll do the same this year.
If the rally falls in a long weekend (3 days) we are willing to travel a longer distance but if it's just sat and sun that really limits our travelling since we do not have the luxury of keeping our baby near our home.
Woodstock, NY is a fun and exciting town with a couple of nice campgrounds which by the way accept pets - a must for us.
September seems to be a great time for most members. Hope this rally works out. Would really enjoy meeting all the super folks here in the forums.
PS
just noticed the Six Flags proposal. Kids are sure to love that one. We have a six flags (a really big one too) here in NJ. The weather here should be sunnier by mid late sept. compared to MA....

I should also point out that we could easily host it up here in Northern Vermont (midway between Middlebury & Burlington, near Lake Champlain) with "rally electric" and daisy-chained water. No dump station other than local parks which allow dumping for a fee. Many of my friends and family have 10 acre lots we could mow & borrow. But it would be a longer drive for Forum members from southern New England.

I'm game too!
I'd take leave from the Marines, pick up the family in central NY near Cooperstown (my recommendation since it's near playoff time and fall colors) or the Catskills, and we'll try to attend. I'd get my buddy back home who's never been to a Rally to come along too in his '86 31 footer. I love the idea of an East coast get together.

1) Connecticut
2) Eastern PA, Eastern to Mid NY (fingerlakes / watkins glen), New England, Northern NJ. I prefer to not have to go through the NYC area .
Any weekend with a few weeks notice. Must allow pets as our old guy cann't be left at the kennel anymore.

Yankee Rallye ???????????
1. Located in New Jersey
2. Have trailer,will travel
3. Free in October
Inland and away from the Canadian border would probably me more of a central location. ( since we have fewer fish and moose among us )
Site Ideas
1. The Blues Fest at Six Flags sounds cool.
2. A Bluegrass Festival ( not as loud ?) there are festivals every weekend in September ( no winterizing concerns )
3. I know of a campground by a river in Pennsylvania that
would love to host a group. ( fishing, tubing , canoeing)
My camping club is hosting a Bluegrass Float trip there
July 30th - Aug. 1....Everyone is welcome. P.M. me if
you are interested. ( Catfish, Gumbo, Jambalaya, mandolins
banjos, guitars, three part harmony round the campfire)
