Connecting Weber Q 1200 grill to Airstream LP
I just got a Weber Q 1200 grill from the Airstream Supply Company. It is designed to work with the low pressure LP system of the Airstream. I had assumed (always unwise) that it would come ready to connect to the trailer, but evidently not. I have a few questions that I hope someone can help with.
1) Do newer Airstreams have a quick connect port for LP gas for a grill? We have a 2012 International 30', and I don't recall ever having seen such a port on ours (it's stored at a facility that's a 45 minute drive from where we live, so I can't easily just step out and look at it). The hose that came with the grill only has a quick connect male to hook up to the trailer.
2) Can you direct me to where I might purchase the adapter I'll need to connect the hose to the LP bottle? I'll check at the usual places (Airstream factory, Amazon, Camping World, etc.) but I thought if someone has already chased this adapter down it could save me the legwork.
3) If you have a 2012 International (or similar), does yours have the quick connect port for LP?
I'm attaching a file that is an image of the quick connect male that hooks up to the trailer.
Thanks for any help.
Russ

I have a 2012 25FB Intl and it has the QD on the front, with a valve, for the LP propane supply to the grill.

russingr, you may be in luck as Isbrodsky has one.
It would look something like this - from our 2019 GT Owner's manual.
I checked the 2012 International manual but couldn't find any reference. By the way, the manuals have come a long way (still not perfect) but much better!
We use our Weber Q on the low pressure port without the Q's regulator - works great!

There is a quick connect on the front frame of the trailer, on the right side. It should have a black cop over the quick connect and a cock cut off value (which should be turned to off when you are not using it). It is next to the bottom frame by your battery box. Hope this helps?

Please confirm that you removed the Weber’s regulator and that allows you to connect directly to the AS quick connector.

The Q may not work going through both regulators. Remove the Q regulator then purchase parts you need to make the connection to the Airstream

I thought they made and Airstream specific one without the regulator. I have a different grill that I removed the regulator on but for this grill I believe the regulator is already removed. Maybe I'm wrong.

This one came without the regulator, so it's ready to go with the Airstream.

For mine I just use hoses that I bought at calling world that connect to the quick connect fitting on the trailer and then to the fitting on the grill.

Hi Tom,
We are actually members of the Heart of Texas Unit, although we have not been active for some time, in terms of attending events.

Well I picked up my trailer from storage today, and mine does not have the quick connect fitting. I followed my gas line from the LP tanks, and it just goes straight back to the trailer; there is no Y or T in the gas line that would provide LP to a quick connect fitting.
I think maybe what happened is that when the shop installed my ProPride hitch some years ago, they had to take out the quick connect line to properly fit the hitch onto the trailer. They may have even mentioned it to me at the time, but if so it wouldn't have meant anything to me, since at the time I wasn't planning to get this grill.
Now I need to find the adapter that goes on the LP tank that has a quick connect on the other end. I saw one in a video on YouTube, but they didn't say where it could be purchased.

Another option
Russ, you might still be able to re-add the low pressure port which is really handy.
Follow the propane line from the tanks under the curb side frame. Look to see if there’s a coupler that the hitch guys installed when they removed the line. If so, you could add a Tee and run a line for the low pressure valve.
You can get this stuff on Amazon or your local hardware store. I found everything I needed for my dual-fuel Champion generator there.
Below are photos of what it looks like on our GT.
Good luck!

If you don't have a low pressure quick connect fitting on your trailer and you don't want to add one I would consider returning the grill. You have paid a premium price for Airstream to sell you a grill that has had a regulator removed and will now only run on low pressure.
If you want to operate the grill directly from your onboard tanks or a 20 lb (high pressure) cylinder you will need to add a pressure regulator back into the supply line.

Connecting Weber Q 1200 grill to Airstream LP
Most airstreams have a rubber flex hose from the bottom of the auto switch regulator located under the propane tank cover to a coupling under the A-frame to the copper tubing that goes back to the rest of the propane appliances.
On mine, a 2007 International, it was on the bottom curbside of the A-frame. I simply replaced a double male compression union there with some brass pipes, adapters and quick connect fitting plus a shut off valve. Except for the quick connect part, all the bits came from the local big box home improvement store. The assembly I designed just happened to fit right in when I replaced the rubber hose with a slightly shorter one. Serendipity is where you find it, even in the Department of Overkill Engineering. The old one happened to be tired, stiff, and getting brittle. It got replaced along with the tank pigtails as a maintenance action.
I’ll try to get a few pictures of the pipes and stuff tomorrow when the sun comes out.
I also use this added 3/8 inch quick connect port to run a modified Champion Dual fuel 3400 watt generator.
