I am astonished to learn that the new constitution is 45 pages! The constitution of the US is only 2 pages plus amendments - yikes. Are we sure we are in a CAMPING club??? No wonder membership is rapidly declining!!!

If I understand correctly, Don S. had until March 20th to give the blessing. Since the 20th fell on Sunday, he should have waived his hand over it by COB Monday afternoon. I popped popcorn, made fresh ice tea, got in my "Ready for death by Power Point Chair" to see and read all the great things coming down the path and how I was all wrong about everything, thinking Bob would have been given the OK to show off the big re-write to shut-up all the naysayers. Oh well, lets hope someone in control will do what's right and quit keeping us general members in the dark.

Once again that good old WBCCI leadership showing respect for those that pay the way.

Deja vu all over again?

The silence speaks loudly. Kinda reminds me of the big buildup before it was announced that the lawsuit idea had been scrapped.

Anybody want to bet that on April 1 the IP will announce the Executive Committee has decided not to introduce an amended constitution after all?

The sounds of silence....

Funny thing. The TAC has begun the official incorporating of itself as a Non Profit. The members who wanted to add input to the bylaws were all allowed to. The entire thing is a page and a half. I think it is so long due to using too large a font. We wanted to be sure everyone could read it easily and clearly. I think the Lawyer might have a problem with it though, it is written in plane old English and not lawyer talk.

Exclamation Revision Update - Moving forward

Ok the letters from the CBL & Lawyers Faulkner, Garmhausen, Keister & Shenk have been submitted to HQ.
The Revision is clear as originally written with the legal requirements of Ohio corporate law and found not to raise any other legal issues.

The April BB Issue has info about the Revision.

HQ will publish on Wbcci.org the complete Revision the latter part of next week, including an FAQ.

Additionally, there is a Gmail account to address questions.

Certain questions will be added to the Faq's

Kerry M has prepared
"A Guide to the Proposed Constitution Revision"

Excellent!

Our unit business meeting is in 3 weeks. I have scheduled 3 discussion sessions during the Rally to present the information and solicit input.

I plan to ask for direction to vote according to member feedback and plan to accept feedback until the Delegate Meeting starts.

We need to ensure the delegates can make any changes needed to make this revision approvable.

I wonder what will be in the Blue Beret? Must just be generic info how to access the online information... The publication cutoff for that issue was quite a while ago, way before any of this legal review had been done... hmmmm.

Let's see, January... February.....March.......... for the attorneys to review a small document and verify it is compatible with Ohio corporate law.... I want to know what that legal bill cost the club!!!!! As a member, I intend to find out. (Does anyone truly believe the attorneys took more than a few hours to review this document????) Yet over 60 days have passed.

Or was the purpose of this lengthy review more devious? As posted on this thread many times, I think our leadership has made the conscious decision to withhold until the last minute. Can our membership be truly informed, with discussions, meetings and votes held, between April 1st and the International Rally??

We are preparing a delegates packet of info that should help.

Please understand any suggested changes known before hand should be put in writing, (4 copies) of course they may also come from the floor.

there will be a copier there to facilitate that.

The lawyer was just a couple of hours so don't get your shorts in wad.

He didn't take months, he took a few days to get to it.

Nothing devious, please stop your allegations, they are without merit.

If your members can't be fully informed between now and July, have them call me.

I'll walk them thru it, but until you read it relax please, it's an easier read than you may be concerned about.

The Proposed Replacement Constitution

Here is the Revision Committee's complete proposed replacement for the WBCCI Constitution and Chairman Shafer's Constitution and Bylaws Report (letter of recommendation). Note that the Revised Constitution was not recommended for adoption. Both are lengthy documents.

Revised Constitution without notations

Just for easier reading, here is the Revision Committee's Constitution as it might be if it were adopted without being amended or revised. This is based on an earlier copy, but LI Pets says that it has not been changed. So, I believe it to be accurate.

Thumbs up

Thanks Forrest. I suppose it could be read to be very encouraging that Don S. does not recommend it. Or do you think that he is now using reverse psychology? I am off to read. Good on you to get the scoop!

Forest - Thanks for posting this....

Now, let me get this straight, the head of the Revision Committee does not recommend the adoption of his own committee's output???

I feel just like Arlo Guthrie in his rendition of the story of Alice's Restaurant - sitting on the Group "W" bench with all of the other...

Is this how the military does things???

Don was never the head of the Revision committee.

Dona is.

I believe that when reading Don's opinion, yes opinion not recommendation you must pay attention.

Direct quote from the C&BL committee recommendation linked above:

Quote:
After careful consideration of the new proposed Constitution it is the recommendation of this committee that this new constitution NOT BE ADOPTED, certainly not at this time. In a few words, TOO MUCH, TOO BIG, NO INPUT (from the membership), NO TIME (really for a valid review. It's not that changes may be forthcoming, it's the manner being utilized in an attempt to rush this forward.
I never thought I'd see the day that I would agree with the C & BL Committee, but there you are.

Don Shafer is chairman of the regular standing Constitution and By-laws Committee. The temporary special committee formed for the Revision of the Constitution and By-Laws' chairperson is Donna Gardner, if I have that correct.

One possible explanation of why the documents have been thus delayed until the very last moment for memebrships' consideration is so that statement could be used. The opinion could have preceded the content. Kind of a tongue in cheek for Don to use the membership's own defense of no input from membership as his reasoning. But of course there was time to pursue that avenue, instead it was secreted and we waited.

Still reading and making notes...
