Just makes a case for distributing this stuff through constant contact instead of some military style chain of command

Rick, that's not the complete answer, if the UP or 1st VP doesn't have or check their emails constant contact will not help.

I think the point would be that info would be disseminated to the entire membership directly via ConstantContact, like the emails about new issues of the Blue Beret.

It is very hard, we wanted to send something out and it was denied.
The club doesn't utilize this email platform effectively at this point.

Now you know why for years there has been a vocal group at the different meetings saying:
"We understanding trying to move this club forward but not everyone has email or uses the internet and many of us are just to old to learn or care".
Remember, this is one of the reasons why we have the Blue Beret. But we have not seen anything about the Revision or the MOHO issue in it.
Enjoy,

There comes a point where the club needs to quit worrying about the people who don't have e mail even though it has been in common usage for 25 years.
They can count on their friends and neighbors to keep them informed.
These may be the same people who came knocking on the door to borrow the (landline) phone or wanted the rest of us to take their messages because they didn't have a phone 30 years ago.
It really is time to move forward.

I can see the tag line now:
"A New Constitution, THOR MOHO's and Required "email" Accounts for everyone" "We're not your fathers WBCCI anymore!"
Don't disagree Rick, but there's only so much someone can do.
Enjoy,

Email Addresses in 2012 Directory!
I looked up the Pres & 1VP of 5 of the Units listed below in the 2012 Directory. I found email's listed for 100% of those 5 unit's officers. I did not look up any of the other 20 units. If email addresses are missing I would think the most obvious thing to do would be to look in the clubs directory!

That doesn't mean they are good emails!
They bounce as invalid

May be the sad state of some folks' use of email. Often enough, people making reservations here mistype their own addresses, don't know their addresses (giving www. as an email address is fairly common), or simply provide an address that they evidently never check, resulting in overfilled inboxes. Argh.

Lynn, true, but as a unit president or 1st VP they have a fiduciary responsibility to have an open line of communication not only with HQ but also the unit members.

The situation may be even worse than you suspect. It seems lately I have sent several e mails to addresses I later found were incorrect yet I never got a bounce notice. They seem to have just disappeared into cyberspace. Maybe to the same place all those lost socks go.

Directory emails
Bob,
Two of the ten emails I looked up I used on 3/1/2012 and they did not bounce. I know for a fact that some of them are good.

There's another phenomenon I am starting to see among internet-active friends resulting from the explosive growth of smart phones.
What happens is that they start viewing their emails on their smart phones and seldom go to their "actual" computers to get their email. Typically the smart phone is set up not to remove emails from the server, so after just a few days of email, spam, glurge, and everything else that shows up in our mailboxes, the allocated server space is exceeded and further incoming email is refused. Ah, technology. . .
.

Let's see. . . who do I get WBCCI/Constant Contact emails from. . . Blue Beret Online, Marketing Committee, Electronic Communications Committee, and Vintage Airstream Club.
The fact that the proposed revised constitution is not even being mentioned either in emails or in the Blue Beret speaks volumes about the depth of Executive Committee commitment to it. Like, zero.
Another thought recently crossed my mind. At Du Quoin, (at the Delegates Meeting or the IBT Seminar, not sure which) a well known standing committee chairman stated that his lawyer (unnamed, but different from WBCCI's corporate counsel) had assured him that several provisions of the proposed revised constitution were in conflict with Ohio law. The committee chairman said that for this reason was his duty to see that it wasn't adopted. I don't recall if he expressly stated that he would go for a court order, but I think I smelled the implication. It would be ironic if a course of action undertaken to eliminate the threat of one lawsuit ended up bringing on another one.

You're referring to the CBL chair Don S. (hearsay opinion)
After he spoke I rebutted what he said,
his lawyer is not an Ohio lawyer.
He had nothing in writing to support that opinion from any lawyer.
The clubs lawyer gave a written legal opinion that the revision was well within the Ohio law.
The EC ignored his (cbl) position and moved forward.
He sang the same song several times thereafter including the Sarasota Rally.
The EC (the Club) will stand on it's own lawyers written opinion.
Don can say anything he wishes but the delegates have it in their control now to vote, Don has no vote and the IP and Parliamentarian disagree with his hearsay opinion.
Now let's move forward, do you wish to help volunteer your time to help?
Do you have any proposed amendments to offer?
tks

My strictly personal observation is that if Don S. doesn't like it, it is usually something the club needs to do
