I towed my previous AS with a Tesla SUV, the Model X. I now have a larger AS the X can’t handle but my Rivian truck on order as yet to arrive. I’m therefore towing with an ICE truck. In terms of stability, power and handling, the Model X is hands down better. You barely notice a trailer is in tow.

The diesel truck is obviously more convenient from a range standpoint and the bed is so practical for camping gear but it his harsher and less smooth.

Curious to see how the Rivian handles when (if?!) it arrives. It is a truck but like the Model X, has a lower centre of gravity due to the heavy batteries in the floor.

So, different advantages to both tow vehicles I’ve used so far. I’m hoping the Rivian will be the best of both worlds. Handling of an SUV but convenience of a truck.

With just the two of use we aren’t maxing out the payload or towing capacity. Truck has factory four corner air suspension, is always level and rides like a luxury car. We tow MA, ME, CT and have never had issues up or down hill in our region.
Just our experience, YMMV,
Hope this helps in your selection!

My hat is off to you Bob! I could never be so disciplined in loading and weighing things. The weight often changes for me because each trip seems to be different and I need to bring different things. Sometimes just folding bikes and a grill and other times bring along a load of firewood plus all the other stuff. It is good to hear the Ram 1500 will handle a 30' trailer - just have to be diligent.
